This table provides instructions on how to code different character positions in field 008 for names except in the case of name-title series. It specifies, amongst other things, in which circumstances it is necessary to modify the default value supplied by the system when a record is created using the feature "Create Record".

11 Subject heading system/thesaurus	v - Répertoire de vedettes-matière	Change the default value to "n – Not applicable" when the authorized access point is: the name of a fictitious person a family name established according to chapter 10 of RDA un nom de collectivité représentant un dignitaire (chef d'État, chef de gouvernement, etc., chef d’une organisation internationale intergouvernementale, dignitaire religieux ou pape) et que le nom du titulaire fait partie du point d'accès autorisé (ex. : Église catholique.
