Lifting as you Lead Mentoring Circles Program 2024
What is Lifting as you Lead Mentoring Circles Program (LLMC)?
As a leader in our community, the Diversity and Inclusion team is calling on you to join the Lifting as you Lead Mentoring Circles (LLMC) program. The LLMC program is an initiative grounded in the 2020/2021 Deputy Minister Commitments on Diversity and Inclusion and strives to build on the Clerk’s Call to Action to better support leadership development towards addressing anti-racism, equity, and inclusion in the federal public service. Through this lens, the LLMC program provides you with an innovative space and opportunity to actively partake in making your workplace inclusive.
This ten-week program, consisting of five Circle sessions and five optional Masterclasses, provides a platform for members to network with colleagues and leadership across the federal public service while developing interpersonal skills, learning about key leadership and cultural competencies, and finding career building opportunities.

Be the Change in the Federal Public Service
We understand that your busy life is already filled with numerous commitments, but we encourage you to spare a few moments and allow us to present a case for you to participate in the 3rd cohort of the LLMC program.
The Time to Act is Now!
By actively engaging with your Circle members, sharing your story, knowledge, and questions, and fostering connections within the broader LLMC network, you will unlock opportunities for personal and professional growth. The knowledge you acquire through these interactions will empower you to advance in your career.
LLMC is a call to action for you to become a change-maker through sharing what you learned with those in your organisation and by integrating it into your daily actions. By applying for this program, you are committing to use what you learn to create a psychologically safer workplace for everyone, especially those from deserving equity groups.
Applying to this program means you are committing to actively participate in all five circle sessions. Masterclasses are optional but we encourage you to attend as they will provide you with tangible hands-on learning related to each week's topic.
The LLMC Program was created with inspiration from the Lean In Circle program created by Sheryl Sandberg. Our program was created to make a difference in the Federal Public Service and relies on the Circle format to help members pursue both personal and professional growth.
There's Power in People Coming Together
The Circle format provides a small trustworthy group to help you reach your goals in a safe and brave space. A Circle is a supportive group that can help members learn from each other’s experiences and benefit from other ways of thinking. By applying to the program, you are making a commitment to learning. Through this commitment, you will expand your knowledge and tactical skills.
The LLMC program will provide a unique opportunity to connect with others who are looking to sponsor or be sponsored. Sponsorship is an important tool in the federal public service, especially for those identifying as part of a deserving equity group. Sponsorship is a proactive and intentional relationship where a person in a position of power or influence advocates for and actively supports individuals from deserving equity groups, thereby helping them advance their careers and overcome systemic barriers.
The LLMC program was created and is organized by the Diversity and Inclusion Office, Materiel Group, National Defence.Eligibility
We are looking for any federal public servants who have support from their supervisor to participate in the program.
Everyone means everyone. Take the 3-3-3 challenge and recruit from the EX-community, management and members from coast to coast. Let’s surround ourselves with people who will lift you higher. We look forward to welcoming you to the program. Let’s work together to foster a greater sense of community and belonging within the public service.

There is no official language requirement to participate in the program. The program’s learning components will be provided in both official languages.
