Start your career at Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) Student Employment and Employment After Your Studies If you are a full-time student, we encourage you to apply for the Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP). Make sure you meet the eligibility requirements. If you have previously worked at the GoC and are looking for a student job or a job after your studies, complete the form to register for ESDC's Inventory for Students and Newly Graduated Students. Check out the GC Students page for tips and tricks. Inventory for Persons with Disabilities The GoC is committed to recruiting over 5,000 persons with disabilities by 2025. It is important for us to have a diverse workforce that represents the Canadian population. The DORRA team has decided to create a resume repository for persons with disabilities. The goal is to have a repository for different recruitment events as well as for hiring managers to have a direct link to available candidates for different employment opportunities within the department. To register, complete the ESDC National Directory for Persons with Disabilities questionnaire (you can change the language of this form by clicking on the language tab in one of the corners of the form). Please note that this is not a traditional selection process, but a resume repository. Tips and Tricks Know your professional group (AS, EC, PE, FI,PM, etc.) Consult the following links to learn more about professional groups: Occupational groups for the public service - Canada.ca Rates of pay for represented - Canada.ca Rates of pay for unrepresented and senior excluded employees - Canada.ca Look at the job advertisements on GC Jobs and add filters to your search or search for job titles (ex: finance). Tip: Look at the titles and salaries to give you an idea if this is an entry-level position. Types of employment If you have never worked at the Government of Canada (GoC), you should look for : Casual employment Determinate Contract (end date) Indeterminate Contract (no end date) Find a job Check out available jobs on GC Jobs regularly and don't be afraid to apply if you qualify Add a filter to find jobs at ESDC and create an alert so you don't miss anything. Become a member of Facebook groups (GC New Grads, Entry Level and Mid-Career Positions - Unofficial/Informal) to share your resume and view job openings.
