ESDC Visible Minorities Network (VMN)
The Visible Minorities Network is the largest diversity community at ESDC counting over 8500 employees and more than 1000 active members. This network provides a forum for visible minorities and their allies to work together to address the needs, issues, concerns and challenges of the members.
The network mandate is to raise awareness about topics related to the Visible Minorities community, support the building and sustaining of a welcoming, inclusive and representative ESDC and help break down systemic barriers that inhibit the full participation of visible minorities’ members within ESDC.
Black Employee Network (BEN)
The ESDC Black Employee Network provides a safe forum for Black employees and their allies to connect and discuss issues related to promoting a healthy and inclusive work environment.
The mandate of the network is to raise awareness, serve as an advisory body on issues that impact Black employees in the department, and to help the department meet its commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
Membership to ESDC’s BEN is voluntary and open to all employees of the organisation who identify as Black and to individuals who identify as allies of the Black community. The network is accountable to its members, with the activities of the network supporting the broader diversity mandate within ESDC.
Community of Federal Visible Minorities
The Community of Federal Visible Minorities (CFVM) is made up of public servants and provides a new forum for visible minorities across the public service to discuss issues of common concern.
The CFVM is an independent, member-run, member-funded organization that offers its members mentorship opportunities, confidential advice on personal workplace issues, seminars, opportunities for networking, and various other activities to advance the well-being of visible minorities.

Learning activities are open to all EDSC employees and help create a more inclusive work environment.
The opportunity to self-identify
Self-identification can make a difference at ESDC. This form helps ESDC to create an accurate picture of our workforce; it pinpoints where we need to eliminate barriers that limit or exclude designated groups from opportunities that should be open to all employees.
