Below is a list of current activities / events under way, for which ISEO is involved in.

  • Please note that these events are for Indigenous students only

  • Joshua Frame (Manager, Federal Youth Network & Associate Faculty, Canada School of Public Service),
  • Gina Wilson (Deputy Minister, Diversity and Inclusion and Youth, Canadian Heritage),
  • Christiane Fox (Deputy Minister, Indigenous Services Canada),
  • Elizabeth Martin (Federal Black Employee Caucus representative for BC) and
  • possibly the PSC representative.


The moderators will be

  • Audrey-Anne Racine (Human Resources Advisor, Employment and Social Development Canada and GC Student co-chair) and
  • Tabassum Khan (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisor, Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada)

June 15 1:00 - 2:30pm EST ISEO - National Kick-Off Event (Bilingual) Indigenous Centre of Expertise (ICoE) at the Public Service Commission (PSC) MS Teams This activity will be a juncture for Indigenous students hired to:
  • Meet with the ISEO lead & ICoE team
  • Learn about different supports of the ISEO initiative
  • To be involved in mentoring & networking opportunities
  • Learn about the diversity of career opportunities in the federal public service
  • Learn about various Indigenous networks: National Indigenous Students Circle (NISC), Indigenous Federal Employee Network (IFEN), Kumik Lodge, Facebook groups, etc.)
June 22 1:00 - 3:00pm EST Mentorship Session on Policy Analyst (EC)

Public Service CommissionIndigenous Centre of Expertise (ICoE) at the Public Service Commission (PSC) MS Teams Purpose
  • To increase measures to support onboarding, development & work experience for all Indigenous students hired through the program.
  • To inspire the students with stories of Indigenous Public Servants & introduce them to potential mentors and/or employers

Description

  • Each Mentoring Session will allow students to discuss & learn about career progression from mentors & ask questions.
  • Will be facilitated with 2-3 mentors per session. Upon completion of the event, students will be encouraged to meet & continue a dialogue with any mentor they see fit.
  • This learning activity will provide hired Indigenous students with the support & guidance necessary to create a meaningful work experience.
June 30 1:00-2:30pm EST Presentation on Indigenous Languages Indigenous Centre of Expertise (ICoE) at the Public Service Commission (PSC) MS Teams This activity will be an opportunity for Indigenous students to learn about Indigenous languages and the impact in the Federal Public Service.

  • To provide knowledge to the students on the career opportunities available after they graduate to capitalize on the talent within the Public Service.

  • To provide hired students the support & knowledge about opportunities regarding the Indigenous Career Pathway on GCPedia and other GC tools.
  • What is the requirement to be eligible for ICP?
  • How to qualified in a pool?
  • How to stand-out event will guide students to delve into their true potential, explore leadership skills & be better prepare when to go to interviews.

ISEO Closing Ceremony - Sharing Circle - Bilingual Indigenous Centre of Expertise (ICoE) at the Public Service Commission (PSC) MS Teams Purpose:
  • To strengthen the representation, recruitment, advancement & retention of Indigenous students.

Description:

  • The closing event activity will provide students in the public service with the opportunity to share about their experience but also lesson learn.
  • This event will support the ISEO 2023 programming and ensure students will have a meaningful work experience
