Sept 23 | 1pm to 3pm: Bilingual | International Day of Sign Languages Public Service Event (Hosted by the PSPC Accessibility Office)
Government of Canada employees are invited to celebrate the International Day of Sign Languages. The theme for this year is “Sign up for Sign Language Rights.” Learn more about the importance of sign languages, Deaf culture, and accessibility during a virtual event organized by Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC). The keynote speaker, Deputy Minister Arianne Reza, will speak of the importance of removing barriers and creating an inclusive workplace where Deaf people can sign anywhere. A panel of sign language users with lived experience will discuss accessibility barriers, common misconceptions, and biases. |

Take some time to learn about how to make the most of EOSD and ask the experts those burning questions that have been on your mind! With guests from the Accessibility, Accommodation and Adaptive Computer Technology (AAACT) team and the Public Service Commission – there will be someone there to answer all your questions. EOSD participants should come prepared with questions to ask. Remember to keep things generic as this event will welcome people from many different departments.
