Editing an Existing Kiosk

Follow the steps below to request an update to your existing kiosk.

To help make it easier to update your virtual kiosk, we have developed the Kiosk vBuilder self-serve tool that allows you to create and update your kiosk, no coding required!

Note that the Kiosk vBuilder is still in the beta phase of development, which means that we are collecting feedback from users to fine tune the vBuilder tool and inform any updates or bug fixes required. If you have feedback to share, please fill out this Feedback Form and send it to: techlab-labtech@csps-efpc.gc.ca.

1. Contact the vExpo team

Contact the vExpo team via the Tech Lab’s generic mailbox to request a link to your kiosk on the vBuilder tool, where you will be able to update your content and design. Let us know if you also need access to the latest version of your kiosk’s Content Planning Template (previously called "Content Submission Form") and design source files, as required.

Generic mailbox: techlab-labtech@csps-efpc.gc.ca

2. Update the Kiosk Content Submission Form

Make the required changes to the form using tracked changes or colored highlights to identify all required changes to the content.

3. Update your kiosk designs, as required

As per the vExpo roles and responsibilities, kiosk owners are responsible for designing and updating their kiosk visuals and providing the vExpo team with the final design files for integration. Using the design source files, make the required modifications to your kiosk designs.

  • Using Adobe Experience Designer (Adobe XD), open the kiosk source file (typically it should be named K####_Source.XD, where the #### corresponds to the kiosk ID).
  • If you don't have access to Adobe XD, the vExpo team can export the individual kiosk panels into SVG and you can make use of other design software to make your updates (i.e. Inkscape or Figma ). Note that your department’s Communications and Marketing team will most likely be able to work with .XD files.

Images specifications and a design guide are available to help you with making updates to your design.

Note: We recommend working with your Communications, Marketing and Multimedia team to develop/update the final kiosk design. If you decide to take this on yourself, we strongly recommend obtaining Communications approval prior to submitting the final designs.

4. Export your kiosk image files

Once your kiosk designs are finalized in both official languages, export each individual kiosk panel as .png files. These will be used to create the 3D version of the kiosk.

For a 3 panel kiosk, you should have a total of 8 panels (4 panels per language): left, central, right, and title.

Name each image file using the following naming convention:

    1. English right panel: Kxxxxxx_EnCA_Right
    2. French right panel: Kxxxxxx_FrCA_Right
    3. English centre panel: Kxxxxxx_EnCA_Centre
    4. French centre panel: Kxxxxxx_FrCA_Centre
    5. English centre title panel: Kxxxxxx_EnCA_CentreTitle
    6. French centre title panel: Kxxxxxx_FrCA_CentreTitle
    7. English left panel: Kxxxxxx_EnCA_Left
    8. French left panel: Kxxxxxx_FrCA_Left

    5. Update your kiosk using the vBuilder self-serve tool

    Ensure you have all the required content ready to update your kiosk. You will need:

    • The link* you received to access the kiosk edition page;
    • The panel image files;
    • The URLs to link to your content; and
    • The final text to appear on your kiosk, in both official languages.

    Follow the instructions in the Kiosk vBuilder guide to update your kiosk.

    6. Publish your kiosk

    Once you have completed your kiosk updates using the Kiosk vBuilder tool, and have received all approvals to publish your kiosk on a public-facing site, contact the Tech Lab team (techlab-labtech@csps-efpc.gc.ca) to confirm that your kiosk is ready to be published.

    Note: Please allow up to 2 working days for your kiosk to be published.
