What is the Young Professionals Network (YPN) Student Committee? The Student Committee is a new sub-group of the YPN that caters to the needs of students specifically. Our purpose is to act as a centre of information, resource expansion, an connection for students within ISC and CIRNAC. The committee intends to provide students with a stronger understanding of the workplace, best practices, and how they may fit in. Trinity Choiniere-Hamilton	Co-Chair	CIRNAC	Trinity Choiniere-Hamilton works as a student for the Centre of Abilities Management and Workplace Wellness. She is an undergraduate honours psychology students who loves anything to do with the brain and statistics! She also has DEC from Heritage College in Social Sciences and Humanities. If there is anything Trinity would encourage you to do during your work term she would tell you to network and join the YPN!

Our tips and tricks! Learn more about the occupational group that applies to you and in which you are starting to begin your career. This is the group you will belong to when you start your career in the public service (after your education / student job). Ask your colleagues! They will be able to help you! Network Participate in activities and committees to expand your contact network (Federal Youth Network, GC Students) Contact the resource persons in job offers on GC Jobs. Go to GC directory, search for departments that interest you, and search for keywords or branches that interest you. Get in touch with managers. Tip: Start a conversation and find things in common with the person, don't ask for a job right away. Tip: Learn about cold emailing techniques to communicate with someone for the first time. Improve your solicitation technique and learn from your communication mistakes. Learn more about the Student Bridging process. View job offers on GC Jobs, Career Marketplace : GCconnex, Facebook groups (see below), etc.. Advice: Look for jobs in your occupational group and at the good level. Ask your colleagues!
