Workshop Descriptions

---|---|---|---|
Product management approaches in Government | Thursday, October 14 | 1pm (ET) | Managing digital products sometimes requires a different approach than traditional project management. In this workshop, you'll learn product management fundamentals, and apply these concepts to your work through hands-on activities. You'll also have a chance to learn from others who have incorporated product management into their public service organizations and hear about their journey to successful product teams. | |
Forming teams for digital projects | Tuesday, October 19 | 10am (ET) | Building strong, multi-disciplinary teams that deliver products and services is not always easy. In this workshop, we walk leaders through how to form these types of teams, and how to empower them to deliver excellence as they help organizations embrace digital transformation. | |
Problem framing & ideation | October 26, 27, 28 | 10am (ET) | You've identified a mission — to make something better, to change a process, to solve a problem — but how do you know if you've gotten to the root of the problem before you design a solution? Do you know what you’re trying to solve? This multi-session workshop will help teams take a broad problem or challenge they are facing and break it down into specific pieces, gain an understanding of users, and identify possible solutions to explore. | |
Agile in action — applying agile concepts in your organization | Tuesday, November 2 | 2pm (ET) | Everyone is talking about agile, but what does it mean to put these tools and methods into practice within your team? Join us for an interactive, activity-based agile workshop where you can gain an understanding of how agile could work for you – and how to tailor it to your team’s needs. | |
Finding and working with your users | Tuesday, November 9 | 1pm (ET) | "User-centered design" is talked about a lot, but how do you know if you're doing it? And if you haven't done it before, how do you start? This two-hour workshop will help you identify who your users are and explore how to engage them in shaping your product, service, or program to fit their needs. | |
Building a team charter | Wednesday, November 17 | 1pm (ET) | A critical part of designing and delivering successful digital projects is a highly effective, multi-disciplinary and self-directed product team. Whether your team has worked together for a year or for a day, this workshop will help you to engage more effectively with each other, ensure you have a shared vision, establish team norms, and chart a path for how you can work together to deliver great results. | |
Unblocking tools 101 | Tuesday, November 23 | 10am (ET) | How might we unblock the modern tools we could use to move our digital projects forward? If you've ever heard "You can't have that tool", this is a workshop for you. Join us to talk through "the rules" vs. "the imagined rules" with experts and learn how to request access to the tools your team needs to be successful. |
