Overview

The Employment Opportunity for Students with Disabilities (EOSD) is a national inventory and support initiative for students who self-declare as persons with disabilities under the Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP) and their hiring managers. EOSD features an onboarding process, training, a mentorship program, activities, and support services designed for both students and managers/supervisors. We offer these services to provide managers and students with the tools to improve the inclusion of persons with disabilities within the public service.

Note: anyone employed in an approved student employment program such as a Post-Secondary Co-op/Internship Program or the Research Affiliate Program is eligible to participate in EOSD.

How can I request a student with a disability for my team?

Through FSWEP, you can make a specific request for a student with a disability by selecting “Person with a Disability” under the Employment Equity option on the form for hiring managers to request student applications.

When you hire your selected student, please complete this short registration form. This helps us to keep providing important services and resources to your student.

Once their work term is over, you may rehire your student employee. through FSWEP if eligible.

How can I re-hire a student?

To re-hire students originally hired through the FSWEP, a Post-Secondary Co-op/Internship Program or the Research Affiliate Program, please follow the steps below:

1.    Contact your HR advisor for your department's requirements for re-hiring students

2.     Check that the student continues to meet the student eligibility criteria

3.     When you re-hire your selected student, please complete this short registration form. This helps us to keep providing important services and resources to your student

4.    Onboard your recruit

Have you hired a student with a disability?

If you answered yes, we would like to know who you hired so we can invite your student to take part in EOSD.

Your student will receive access to opportunities such as networking, mentorship, training and other exciting opportunities! Please complete the registration form.

Once registered, your student(s) will receive updates by email regarding all things EOSD.
