⭐ History of the Judy Booth Award
The Award is in memoriam of Judy Booth - to recognize her embodiment of excellence in government services. Her innovative ideas, unwavering commitment, and pioneering work in privacy set her apart[1]. While Booth retired from the National Capital Commission, she was still assisting in the Access to Information and Privacy Office. Before 2019, the Award was known as the Chief Information Officer Community Award for Excellence in Access to Information and Privacy.
The Judy Booth Award recognizes public servant(s) for outstanding achievement in improving service delivery, transparency and collaboration related to access to information and privacy (ATIP) in the Government of Canada.
⭐ Criteria
- Criterion 1: Supports the continued growth and improvement of colleagues in the ATIP community.
- Criterion 2: Demonstrates a passion for service delivery in ATIP requests.
- Criterion 3: Innovates to improve a digital or in-person ATIP service.
- Criterion 4: Improves service delivery, transparency and collaboration related to ATIP requests in the Government of Canada.

Note that the selection committee does not take into consideration any elements extraneous to the information provided in the nomination text.
Eligibility
- The Award is open to employees of institutions under the Access to Information Act (ATI) and the Privacy Act.
- Nominees must have been employed in fiscal years 2023-2024 or 2024-2025. Exceptionally this year, there will be two (2) individual awards and two (2) team awards covering this period.
- Team nominations may include members from several institutions. Teams must not exceed 15 individuals.
Who can submit a nomination?
- Any employees of institutions under the ATIA and the Privacy Act submit a nomination.
- Each individual or team nomination must be endorsed by a peer or a senior leadership before being submitted.
- Nomination forms that are missing required information will not be evaluated, and the selection committee will not look at additional documents or information.
