The Accountability and Reporting Framework overseas it all and responds to the need to update the official languages governance structure across the federal government. Here's a visual representation of the main compliance and accountability tools. MONITORING The monitoring of official languages is primarily carried out through the collection of information and data obtained using the annual Official Languages Review Exercise, the results of the Public Service Employee Survey, the language designation of federal offices and service points (Burolis), as well as official languages data on workforce. The annual Official Languages Review Exercise gathers information on the state of official languages in federal institutions and includes the collection of official languages data on workforce (resources providing service to the public, resources providing personal and central services, bilingual capacity on supervision positions who supervise employees located in a bilingual region for language-of-work purposes, and the first official language of staff). The collected information is used to write the annual reports on official languages from the Treasury Board and Canadian Heritage, which are tabled to Parliament. There are two key components to the annual Official Languages Review exercise: → Official Languages Reviews The methodology includes a two-year cyclical exercise, except for approximately 30 federal institutions that are required to submit a Review on an annual basis. The List: 2023 to 2025 Cycle is provided to you to help your institution better position itself in the current two-year cycle period. An instruction sheet (in development) accompanies the questionnaire for the Official Languages Review, created to support institutions when responding to certain questions. → Official Languages Data on Workforce Official Languages data on workforce is collected annually for all federal institutions. OFFICIAL LANGUAGES REVIEW EXERCISE The annual review exercise collects information on Parts IV, V, VI and VII of the Official Languages Act (OLA). This information is used in the preparation of annual report on official languages that is tabled to Parliament on the status of official languages programs in federal institutions.   New this year: The methodology of the Official Languages Reviews exercise has been revised to reflect the new responsibilities of TBS stemming from the modernized OLA. The new methodology now includes a two-year cyclical exercise, with the exception of approximately 30 federal institutions that are required to submit a review on an annual basis.  The following list is provided to you to help your institution better position itself in the new biennial cycle for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 period. List: 2023 to 2025 Cycle Federal Institutions part of the Core Public Administration Federal Institutions not part of the Core Public Administration – Update your data as of March 31st of the current year, in your Human Resources system. – Data is extracted via the Position and Classification Information System (PCIS).
