Step by Step Process | Roles and Responsibilities |
Editing an Existing Kiosk
Kiosk owners, as outlined in the Roles and Responsibilities for the vExpo, are responsible for keeping their kiosk content up to date using the vBuilder self-serve tool. Guidance material has been developed to support you throughout this process.
If you have been delegated to edit a kiosk or would like to take ownership of a kiosk, contact the kiosk owner to request ownership and obtain existing templates, mock-ups or canvases to facilitate future updates.
Follow these 5 steps to update to the hotspots or panels in your existing kiosk. If you are the owner of a CSPS kiosk, contact the Tech Lab at techlab-labtech@csps-efpc.gc.ca to arrange updates.
Refer to our FAQ for any questions.
1. Update your kiosk content
Begin by identifying any updated content required for panel images, decorative text, descriptive text or hotspot URLs using your existing Content Planning Template and/or Kiosk Mock-up Template. Ensure all your planned updated content for your kiosk is available in both official languages.
If you are only adding or removing hotspots or modifying the description card texts in your kiosk, you can proceed to the vBuilder in step 4.
If your panels require updates to layout, thumbnail images or to the embedded decorative text, then you will need to update and export replacement panels. Proceed to step 2.
2. Update your kiosk panels, as required
If new panel images are required, update the existing canvases used to make your kiosk or refer to one of our blank canvas templates to capture your designs in the required layout and format before exporting them as .png files.
While you can update panel images using the provided guides and tutorials, you may also seek support from your department’s communications, marketing, or multimedia team.
Common applications for this purpose include Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe XD, Sketch, Figma, Canva, and PowerPoint.
- Templates: Blank canvas templates for capturing final kiosk design (PPT, SVG, Figma, Adobe XD, Illustrator).
3. Export your updated kiosk panel image files, as required
If you have updated any panel images, you will need to export new panels as a .png file and name it to correspond with the panel being replaced.
Name your updated image file according to the following convention:
- English right panel: Kxxxxxx_EnCA_Right
- French right panel: Kxxxxxx_FrCA_Right
- English centre panel: Kxxxxxx_EnCA_Centre
- French centre panel: Kxxxxxx_FrCA_Centre
- English centre title panel: Kxxxxxx_EnCA_CentreTitle
- French centre title panel: Kxxxxxx_FrCA_CentreTitle
- English left panel: Kxxxxxx_EnCA_Left
- French left panel: Kxxxxxx_FrCA_Left
- Guide: Kiosk image specifications guide to provide the exact requirements for each panel.
4. Update your kiosk using the vBuilder self-serve tool
The Tech Lab has developed the Kiosk vBuilder self-serve tool to assist you in updating your virtual kiosk. Follow the instructions in the Kiosk vBuilder Creation Guide to upload any updated panels or to adjust the hotspots in your kiosk.
Ensure you have all the required content ready, including your unique vBuilder link provided by the Tech Lab, any updated panel image files, and any updated description text or URLs in both official languages.
If you haven't received the link to access the vBuilder, contact the Tech Lab at techlab-labtech@csps-efpc.gc.ca to request a link to edit your kiosk.
- Guide: Kiosk vBuilder Creation Guide to show you step by step how to update your kiosk.
5. Re-publish your kiosk
Once you've edited your hotspots and/or uploaded your panels, and previewed it using the Kiosk vBuilder tool, contact the Tech Lab team at techlab-labtech@csps-efpc.gc.ca to notify them that your kiosk is ready to be re-published. Please allow up to 2 working days for your kiosk to be published for quality assurance purposes.
