A thriving Official Languages Program is essential to implementing the Official Languages Act. One of the low-cost ways we can actively engage our English- and French-speaking colleagues in our efforts to promote both official languages is through language mentoring. But how can we do this effectively? In this workshop, I'll share with you the steps I took to launch a Language Mentorship Program successfully that supports my work as a Person Responsible for Official Languages in my institution.

Do you want to write inclusively in French? Do you want to know the principles and practices of inclusive writing that will allow you to do so? The Language Portal of Canada will present an overview of the Inclusive Writing Guidelines and Resources, which were recently published on the Portal.

These guidelines are designed to help the federal public service and other interested institutions in adopting writing that does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, ethnicity, ability or any other identity factor. They present principles for writing inclusively and concrete procedures to choose from depending on the context. Other new features include the Inclusionary and its French counterpart, l’Inclusionnaire, which allow you to find inclusive solutions to replace gendered words that refer to or describe people.

|'''Update on the Second Official Language Training Framework'''
Meet Mauril, a free digital platform that uses the varied, stimulating and entertaining content of CBC and Radio-Canada as a source for learning French and English. Available in mobile, tablet and web versions, this application is a complementary tool that is part of a continuous learning process, promoting both linguistic and cultural immersion through content that is 100% Canadian.
+
This session will provide an overview of the Second Official Language Training Framework and its key deliverables. The framework stems from one of the OL reform measures under TBS’s responsibility regarding language training - a new second language training framework that will aim to better respond to the diverse needs of learners and provide support to institutions in their language training approaches.

The audio and video content comes from the vast library of CBC and Radio-Canada and has been carefully selected to maximize exposure to vocabulary from many regions and various accents, in formal and informal contexts. The reality of language in Canada is reflected in Mauril.

The workshop will introduce the application and offer practical tips for success in your learning journey, both on the platform and in your daily life.
