Overview

Founded by Indigenous students in the Public Service, the National Indigenous Student Circle (NISC) is a network for Indigenous students that work in the Government of Canada. Working closely with the Indigenous Center of Expertise (ICoE), this network is an extra space for students enrolled in the Indigenous Student Employment Opportunity (ISEO). The goals of starting an Indigenous Student Network in the Public Service include:

  • Provide networking opportunities and information sharing for Indigenous students across Canada;
  • Increase the sense of belonging within the federal public service amongst Indigenous students;
  • Improve the Indigenous student employment experience to encourage retention and continued recruitment within the federal public service;
  • Encourage and promote participation in departmental events; and to
  • Gain valuable feedback on the Indigenous student/youth experience within the departments.

Our Mission

  • To develop a community to connect, collaborate, network, and engage with other Indigenous students from across all departments.
  • To create a safe and inclusive environment for all Indigenous students working for the Federal Public Service.
  • Acknowledge and celebrate Indigenous culture in the workplace.
  • Create an accessible platform to easily share tools and resources, event information, and to respond to any questions or concerns from the Indigenous student population.

Our goal is to offer tailored information that is easily accessible, and connect you to exciting opportunities throughout the year, where we hope you will be able to develop lasting relationships with your student colleagues.
