|Over the course of his career, Simon Cardinal has held a variety of corporate, policy and operational roles, both at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and the Canada Border Services Agency.

As the Director General of Litigation Management, Simon provides strategic departmental direction for all IRCC-related litigation, with a view to mitigating risks in the best interest of the Department.

In previous capacities, Simon was responsible for overseeing IRCC Future of Work efforts and the department’s Situation Centre.  He oversaw the planning, coordination and reporting aspect of IRCC’s efforts in resettling over 40,000 Afghan nationals.  He also held the role of Corporate Secretary and Chief Privacy Officer, ensured the operational achievement of IRCC’s Immigration Levels Plan from 2016-2018, and provided strategic operational advice and data analysis on key departmental files, including Express Entry, Operation Syrian Refugees and Irregular Migration.
