About the Virtual Expo
The Canada School of Public Service (CSPS) Digital Academy has advanced digital government capacity-building by piloting a range of programs to grow the public service’s skills and knowledge in various digital fields. This is done, among others, through the delivery of virtual events where subject matter experts share their expertise with public servants.
In June 2020, the Digital Academy’s Innovation Services team started experimenting with the development of a virtual exposition (vExpo) in support of the shift to virtual events due to the pandemic. Now, vExpo is used by the CPSP and other GC organizations to host large virtual events, allowing participants to easily access all event material from one central location. Participants can navigate a virtual lobby and browse through the agenda, speakers biographies, live presentations as well as an exhibit area that showcases virtual kiosks where event partners can promote and share information on their products and services.
Getting your own vExpo
vExpo is available for use by CSPS and other GC organizations to support larger-scale events. Below is a list of criteria used to determine if vExpo is a good fit for hosting your event.
Criteria for using vExpo (must meet all criteria, unless otherwise stated):
- Large-scale event (i.e. conference) with a minimum 1,000 anticipated participants.
- Event duration is 4 hours or more, and includes breaks.
- Event includes one or more activities that require participant interaction (i.e. such as breakout sessions, workshops, networking).
- Event program includes dedicated time for participants to visit virtual kiosks.
Priority will be given to events that are:
- hosted by CSPS and partner departments, including central agencies;
- targeted to a GC-wide audience;
- aligned with GC priorities; and
- high profile.
Given the high demand for vExpo, please make sure your event meets the criteria above before submitting a request for a vExpo.
