====PDFs====
+

Is there any documentation on when or when not to use PDFs for publishing? Can other departments that are interested in this have an offline conversation? This is a real issue for us right now. It is very time-consuming and we get a lot of pushback. We want TBS endorsement.

Share this button
 +

 +
* You can can edit the ‘Share this page’ button as needed
 +
* Should we have this button at all?
 +
* DTO has investigated and it’s not used very often, not mandatory part of the template
 +
* It’s on the to do list to look at this component, but lower priority
 +
* On mobile, most users have a baked in share function, makes button less useful
 +
* Departments can remove it if they wish

DTO presentation - Sign in button
   −
The PDFs are all written as print products so they don't leverage existing online content. Guidance would be very useful.
+
* Applied to different Canada.ca pages, and many CRA pages.
   −
Clients have a paper-based mindset but also want more control over the design.
+
* Usage has been increasing
 +
* Up to 82 accounts now
 +
* Want to build on this progress, people are looking for these sign in buttons, creates demand to have sign in on many different pages
 +
* Let's expand the sign in buttons
 +
* CRA has a page listing all accounts and when users should access them
 +
* Part of the mandatory pattern, is a section at the bottom of the page to direct users to the right account
 +
* Trying to change users view of the GCKey account, to inform users that’s it’s a way to verify, not an account
 +
* This work is ongoing with working group
   −
Concern always voiced about low bandwidth communities not wanting to access things online and needing to download the PDF.
+
Comment from floor:
   −
What if all the people who care about this got together, outlined the problems, shared some data/facts/stats, made the case, and then flipped it to DTO to be a blog post that could be shared? (e.g. can we come up with a case/be the solution we want to see)
+
What are barriers to implementing a sign-in button?

====Working group for accessibility of scientific documents====
+
** Answer: There should be a register button and a sign in button
Karine Meunier at ECCC is leading this working group. A group has met a few times to discuss accessibility of documents and what to do when we don’t have time to code large scientific documents in HTML. The group started with scientific documents but are also discussing any other type of document as well. If you want to discuss this please reach out to Karine to get added to the group: [Mailto:Karine.Meunier@ec.gc.ca Karine.Meunier@ec.gc.ca]. The group will present it to GCWP in the fall.
+
** Registration information should be a on a different page
====Design system====
  −
Would like to discuss how to get issues addressed. We are trying to figure out how to unlock the design system a little further. We are working on a contribution model that we will present to the community once we have documented it.
