Digital Talent/Ecosystem for Digital Talent
Exploring the ecosystem for digital talent
Public servants across Canada, as part of the GC digital talent community, all have the same mission: to increase the government's capacity to deliver digital services that are secure, reliable, user-centric and barrier-free. Sponsored by the GC Digital Community, the goal is to create a collective awareness that will help us achieve our mission, together.
Building on a foundation created by the Government of Canada Data Community Ecosystem Project, we will extend the topic scope beyond data to include digital and extend the organizational scope beyond the Government of Canada to include partners and stakeholders outside the federal government.
Digital talent is a broad term that is evolving with emerging technologies, but it typically includes information technology, information management, data, and cyber security. On the service delivery side, it includes product design, product management, user experience and central to much of digital talent is human resources.
A preliminary visualization of the ecosystem for digital talent based on data collected as of October 2022.
This pilot initiative will help bring these communities together to curate, visualize, and share data about entities related to digital talent. These entities can include learning resources, projects, communities, datasets, or anything that helps us achieve our common mission. We will collect these entities in a shared database.
One database, many uses:
- explore networks of relationships across the entities to better understand the part of the ecosystem you are interested in
- create shared browsable catalogs of resources that practitioners can use to accelerate their progress
- share needs of your community to find solutions other applications may emerge based on the community’s needs
The ecosystem is for anyone who works in the digital talent space and is willing to help create a shared collection of resources, gain situational awareness, and find opportunities for collaboration.
Project contributors will meet online to curate resources, participate in Data Quests, network, and more.
