FAQ's

1.Who can use vExpo?

vExpo is a platform developed in-house by the Canada School of Public Service (CSPS) to support virtual events hosted by, or in collaboration with the School. vExpo is not available for use by other departments to host departmental events.

GC departments may be invited by CSPS to host a virtual kiosk at an upcoming school event. Kiosks developed for an event can be repurposed for future events or used independently as stand alone kiosks, independently from an event.

2.Can users view vExpo on a tablet or on a mobile phone?

Yes. When accessing vExpo from a mobile device, you will automatically be redirected to the mobile site. However, we recommend using a desktop with an up-to-date browser to get the best experience possible.

3.Is there a maximum of existing kiosks I can use for my event?

While there is technically no maximum of kiosks you can use for your event, we recommend only using kiosks that are relevant to your event. The longer the list of kiosks is, the less likely the ones at the bottom will be visited. Therefore, we suggest keeping the list under 15 kiosks.

4.Is vExpo accessible?

CSPS is committed to offer content and products that are fully accessible and inclusive. Event hosts and kiosk owners are responsible for the hosting and management of the content and third party tools accessible through the vExpo platform and ensuring it meets the requirements under the Official Languages Act, Copyright Act and the Standard on Web Accessibility.

For further information, please take a look at the vExpo content requirements.

5.What type of browser is required to access vExpo?

A modern and up-to-date web browser like Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge is highly recommended. If you use a mobile device or unsupported web browser, you will be redirected to the mobile/accessible site. If you are having difficulties accessing the website, try changing or updating your web browser. Learn more here: https://wiki.gccollab.ca/CSPS_Tech_Lab/vExpo/Virtual_Expo_Browser_Compatibility

6.Can I create a lobby without creating a kiosk and vice-versa?

Yes, you can create a lobby just to showcase your main event. You can choose to add existing kiosks relevant to your event or not include a kiosk area at all. It is also possible to only create a kiosk not attached to any lobby.

7.I don’t have the skills and/or software to design a kiosk myself. What should I do?

As per the LINK Roles and Responsibilities for the vExpo, kiosk owners are providing the final designs of their kiosks. Image specifications and guidance material have been developed to support your kiosk design journey, if required. That said, we recommend seeking support from your department’s Communications, Marketing or Multimedia team to develop the final kiosk design files. You can also consider seeking help from a colleague with design skills, hiring a design firm, or setting up a micro-mission.

If you don’t have access to a design application, discuss options with your supervisor. Good design applications options include: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe XD, Sketch, Figma (free option available), Canva, etc.
