About the CSPS Digital Academy
The Canada School of Public Service (CSPS) Digital Academy was established in 2018 to help federal public servants gain the knowledge, skills and mindsets they need in the digital age. It supports the principles of Canada's Beyond2020 initiative for an agile, inclusive and equipped workforce and advocates for a digital-first approach that aligns with Canada's Digital Standards. These ten digital standards form the foundation of the government's shift to becoming more agile, open and user-focused. About the team
The Innovation Services team, within the Digital Academy, is a multidisciplinary team of UX specialists and developers. We work closely with learning specialists and product owners to help enable effective relationships with learners and deliver truly rewarding learning experiences. We lead the design and development of user-centric digital innovative solutions and support the CSPS and Digital Academy’s learning products and programs. We value curiosity, out of the box thinking, and learning by doing. Some of the innovation projects we are currently working on include vExpo (virtual expo and kiosks leveraging immersive technology), Busrides.ca (microlearning platform), learning paths, and more!

- UX Content Coordinator (AS-03)
- UI Designer (CS-01)
UX Content Coordinator (AS-03)
As UX Content Coordinator, your job is to help coordinate content submissions and validations from stakeholders, manage and update online content to ensure information is up-to-date, accessible, and is effectively endorsed. You support the Digital Academy team with the content needs and work closely with developers and UX professionals to design and implement content strategies. You should also be quick to respond to partners enquiries, be detailed oriented and have great interpersonal skills to help foster long term partnerships.
As a UX Content Coordinator, you will:
- Work closely with partners to capture requirements, gather content and coordinate activities for the development of digital products.
- Work as part of the UX team alongside designers, researchers, and developers to build and maintain digital applications and tools.
- Perform quality assurance exercise for new and updated digital products, functionalities and content.
- Perform content audits, analyze user data to evaluate content effectiveness and undertake cleanup exercises.
- Design and implement content strategies, using data and evidence to give the audience the content they need, at the time they need it, and in a way they expect.
- Coordinate and develop inclusive and accessible content, product descriptions, feature updates, in-product messaging, online posts, reports, presentations, help articles and organizational pages.
- Participate in user research activities and work with researchers to conduct user sessions, card sorting exercises and online research.
The ideal candidate has:
- A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.
- Experience developing and managing online content, proofreading and editing content, and testing all materials prepared for web publication.
- Experience designing and applying content strategies, preferably in a product-focused environment.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team including UX designers, researchers, and developers.
- Experience managing and updating online content, performing content audits.
- Experience making recommendations to management.
- The ability to translate business needs and research requests into actionable tasks.
- Strong attention to details to achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task.
- Strong abilities to coordinate multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Strong project management, organizational and coordinating skills.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Strong reading, writing and communication skills in both official languages (English and French).
- A strategic and creative mind to quickly identify problems and offer practical and innovative solutions.
It’s a bonus is you have:
Experience using MediaWiki, the software that powers Wikipedia or HTML and CSS knowledge.
- Creative and design skills (using Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Knowledge of agile development processes.
- Strong presentation skills, including creation, delivery, and openness to feedback.
Additional Information
Location: National Capital Region. The position is also open to those located across Canada and allows for telework.
Classification and Level: AS-03
Duration: 1 year secondment/assignment or term, with possibility of extension. Preference will first be given to secondment/assignment.

UI Designer (CS-01)
As a UI designer, your job is to develop user interface designs to support innovation projects. You should understand the relationship between UI design and development, and have the ability to work closely with other designers, researchers and developers to identify problems and solutions, implement designs and apply interactive and visual design principles. While your focus will mostly be on UI design, you will also support front end development activities, where you will work on the technical implementation of the software’s user interface. You should have a keen understanding of design techniques and principles, as well as keen understanding of modern tech stack, applying these throughout your work to create a positive and cohesive user experience.
As a UI Designer, you will:
- Create and maintain digital assets, such as interface design files, wireframes, sitemaps, and interactive mockups using design and prototyping tools and software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, inVision)
- Apply the “design thinking process” from concept development thru to final product delivery.
- Understand modern tech stack, provide technical advice wherever necessary, while considering technical limitations.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, alongside designers, researchers, and developers to build and maintain digital applications and tools.
- Provide support for the technical implementation of the software’s user interface.
- Develop and integrate user interfaces in web applications.
- Develop web applications using front-end frameworks.
- Design, build, and maintain highly reusable JavaScript, HTML and CSS code.
The ideal candidate has:
- Passion about all things UX and other areas of design and innovation.
- Hands-on experience developing user-centered designs.
- A high level of proficiency in crafting aesthetically beautiful interfaces.
- The ability to understand detailed requirements and design user experiences that meet client needs and vision.
- The ability to iterate your designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
- Experience using HTML, CSS, and other design tools, to achieve responsive designs.
- Experience in using front-end JavaScript Frameworks to develop web applications (ex. Vue.js, React.js).
- Creative and design skills using design software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, inVision)
- Knowledge in the field of user experience in web design.
- Knowledge of product development life cycle.
It’s a bonus is you have:
- Knowledge of agile development processes.
- Knowledge of automated, integration testing principles.
- Strong presentation skills, including creation, delivery, and openness to feedback.
- Experience working with immersive technologies projects.
- A portfolio that demonstrates your strong design abilities and solid understanding of design principles.
