How you can help

Making templates is easy! Just create a page in the template namespace. Most of the templates below rely on a "meta" template called {{ambox}}. Instructions on building templates can be found at Help:Templates.

Have you made a template and want to include it here? Please demonstrate your template on the discussion page for feedback and if it is useful for all Wiki users it can go on this page.

How the template appears The wiki code to use When to use it Notes

To the extent possible, our wiki pages aim to comply with GC policies related to Official Languages, Accessibility and Information Management. Participants are encouraged to contribute in the Official Language of their choice and are reminded of their responsibilities under the Values and Ethics Code.

{{Policy compliance}} When a page is in the draft stage and does not need to be bilingual See GCpedia:Official Languages
{{Needs translation}} When an English page does not have a French equivalent, but should See Help:Bilingual page
{{Sent for translation}} When a page has been sent for translation and you want other Wiki users to know See Help:Bilingual page; using this template adds the page to Category:Sent for translation
{{Disambiguous}} or {{disambig}} or {{disambiguation}} When you make a Disambiguation page that provides the user with a list of terms that may be what he or she was looking for Using this template adds the page to Category: Disambiguous
{{Needs your input}} When you want to have others contribute to your page It takes more than a banner to generate contributions - make it clear how to contribute. Using this template adds the page to Category: Needs your input
{{Youcanhelp}} Works a lot like {{needs your input}}, but allows you to add up to three bullet points to describe how users can help. This is a bilingual template. Using this template adds the page to Category:Needs your input
{{Protected}} When you would like others to refrain from editing your page Using this template does not prevent others from editing your page. Using this template adds the page to Category:Protected
{{Delete}} When you would like a Sysop to delete a page from Wiki See Help:Delete. See Template:Delete for documentation about how to use this template. Using this template adds the page to Category:Subject to deletion
{{reduceROT}} Apply to pages that are redundant, outdated, and trivial Check Special:AncientPages and Special:FewestRevisions to identify pages and apply the template on what you think are priority pages
{{Cleanup}}

{{NamingConvention}} or {{naming}} or {{cleanup-articletitle}} Often used by Wiki gnomes, when a page violates naming conventions put this template at the top See Help:Page naming. Be bold and apply this template often. Using this template adds the page to Category:Subject to renaming and Category: GCPEDIA Sysop request
{{Inuse}} Put this template at the top of a page or section that you are about to perform a major edit on. This will help avoid edit conflicts. This is only for temporary use. For pages under construction, use {{underconstruction}}. Pages with this template applied will be sorted into Category:Pages actively undergoing a major edit. The reason why this template says "This help page is actively..." is because the template automatically recognizes the namespace that the page is associated with - in this case, the help namespace.
{{underconstruction}} Put this template on pages that are actively under construction, be they new pages or pages that already exist. For temporary edits, use {{Inuse}}. Pages with this template applied will be sorted into Category:Pages actively undergoing a major edit.
{{Caution}} When a page is likely to change frequently - remove this template when the page becomes stable Using this template adds the page to Category:Caution
{{Good stuff}} When a page is excellent and valuable This is a lighthearted template to let others know that a page is excellent

{{Gnome Me Please}} When you want to encourage other users to improve a page - gnoming is for everyone Designed to encourage anyone to just "do" as opposed to "wonder if they should"
{{Accessibility}}
{{Accessibilité}}
When a page introduces accessibility issues that create challenges for users with disabilities Wiki code can be made accessible. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (accessibility) for good instructions on how to make wiki code accessible. Using this template adds the page to Category:Flagged/Accessibility and Category:Accessibility issues
{{Inactive user}} When a user has not been active on Wiki in a long time, put this template on their user page. This template lets other users know the status of a Wiki user.
{{Not orphan}} When an image or file is not linked to, but is still important Used mostly by advanced users. Using this template adds the image/file page to Category:Used unused images. See Special:UnusedImages for a list of all unused images.
{{nutshell}} When you need to present a concise summary at the top of pages Use the nutshell summary to make Wiki more inviting to new users. Nutshell entries must be brief overviews, with a very high signal to noise ratio. Make sure each word in the nutshell carries significant weight, "make every word tell". See Template:Nutshell for documentation on use.
{{intro needed}} When a page contains a list or other contents without any explanation or indication of its purpose Used to encourage page authors to add an intro paragraph or page summary to a page.
{{Translation to follow}} When a page is draft and will be sent for translation when final Used to notify users about French version of page
{{Docs Security Notice}}
