The Federal Youth Network (FYN) is excited to announce the return of in-person learning events in 2025. These full-day events are crafted to empower students, new public servants, and aspiring public servants through dynamic workshops, interactive networking activities, and speed mentoring sessions. Attendees will develop essential skills in personal branding, effective communication, and work-life balance, all while forging meaningful connections with peers and mentors.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the learning day, participants will be able to:

1. Enhance their personal branding by creating a compelling professional image.
2. Develop effective communication skills for managing and resolving workplace conflicts.
3. Achieve better work-life balance with tips for managing workloads and preventing burnout.
4. Expand their professional network through networking and speed mentoring sessions.

Achieving work-life balance Description: Learn how to manage heavy workloads without sacrificing personal life. Recognize signs of burnout and explore time management tips.	More Information to come
Speed mentoring: Description: Participate in four 15-minute rounds of speed mentoring with experienced professionals. Objectives: During this session, mentors will get an opportunity to share their advice with and answer questions from mentees related to career development, work-life balance, and the inner workings of the Government of Canada. Preparing for Assessments and Interviews in a Selection Process Description: Participants will learn strategic tips that will assist them during the selection process, including requesting accommodations, preparing for tests, and mastering interview techniques. The Federal Youth Network (FYN) will be hosting an in-person learning event in the NCR in partnership with the NCRYPN. This full-day event will allow participants to learn about career development with tangible examples and experience sharing on a variety of topics. There will also be ample opportunities built in for networking and kiosk exploration.

• Note: In keeping with the Career Boot Camp theme of your career your way, participants will choose their workshops upon arrival to tailor their day to their interests.

• Identify key factors in making an appealing resume
• Share the importance of a network and how to network across the GC from anywhere
• Continue to connect with individuals from their region and build on new relationships
• Recommend activities and best practices to enhance organizational culture while working remotely or in a hybrid model

Each room will have a guided networking activity to get the audience warmed up to the idea of networking throughout the day. Branding: Setting Yourself Apart Description: Having the right skills and experience is part of the equation but sometimes you need to make sure the right person knows what you can bring to a potential role. Join our speakers as they discuss learning about yourself, expressing what you can contribute, and finding opportunities to meet the people who can help you advance in your career.
