<p>José Ribas Fernandes is a settler from Portugal, father of twins, and was trained as a medical doctor (MD from Universidade de Lisboa, 2006), and as an academic researcher in cognitive neuroscience (PhD in Biology and Neurosciences, from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, 2013). He conducted research at Princeton University (2008-2013) and University of Victoria (2013-2018) in the neural anatomy of decision making. After academia, he briefly worked in a behavioral economics consulting company, BEworks, and has been at the Canada Energy Regulator since 2019, and has worked in data science, equity, diversity, and inclusion, and currently works in Reconciliation in information management.</p>

<p>Stéphane Crête works as a Assistant Director for the Centre for Statistical and Data Standards at Statistics Canada. Since joining the department in the late 90s, he has held a number of positions working on IT systems and architecture covering many statistical domains such as business surveys and the system of national accounts. As a data standards architect, Stéphane is a vocal advocate for the adoption of standards including those for data exchange and metadata management. He also plays a key role in their implementation across various data domains within Statistics Canada. In his free time, Stéphane enjoys exploring new technologies and staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the field. He is passionate about the role that data standards play in advancing technology and improving business-related statistical capabilities.</p>
