Microphones used by virtual participants in meetings with simultaneous interpretation must:
- be unidirectional;
- be connected to the computer using a cable (not Bluetooth);
- reproduce voice frequencies between 125 Hz and 15,000 Hz (requirement of ISO standard 20109 for simultaneous interpretation).
Do not use an omnidirectional microphone, earbuds with a built-in microphone nor your computer’s built-in microphone.
Many manufacturers offer products that meet these criteria. You will find below a few examples for illustration purposes only. If you need help choosing an appropriate microphone, contact the Translation Bureau.
