Agenda

- Canada Emergency Student Benefit
Notes and action items
1. Updates
DTO
- Last Friday, Patrick came and talked about accessibility and we’ve pulled together a blog post based on his presentation: Designing for accessibility during COVID-19
- Working on guidance for guidance with PCO, Principal Publisher, and HC PHAC, with a plan to present a draft to TMC next week
- Meeting next Tuesday with provinces and territories
- Testing labels for reopening content
2. Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB) - Roger Pankhurst and Katie Dowdall (CRA)
- Live French PCUE pages
- Live English CESB pages
- Understand the benefit and turn it into web content for students.
- Spent 20 hours collaboratively doing usability testing
- Also tested mobile as most students get there using mobile and most people find it from Google Search
- Walked through the CESB and showed reasoning for development and testing
- Language originated in Canada Child Benefit work with CRA and CRA Call Centre
- Re-used patterns for CESB that we knew worked (from CERB, CCB etc.)
- Didn’t just assume the program would work - did usability testing throughout and made changes based on the results: iterate, iterate, iterate
- Unmoderated and moderated testing
- Looking at call drivers and keeping an eye on Google searches
- Listened to users going through it and incorporated their feedback, for example, some users didn’t know what taxable meant, so we changed it
- Testing was informing content development as the policy was being created.
- Policy and implementation were developed together - great example of how important it is for us all to work together
- Codevelopment with policy people reduced calls at call centre
