This full-day event will allow participants to learn about career development with tangible examples and experience sharing on a variety of topics. Mentees will be able to ask questions to and seek advice from mentors on the topics that matter most to them as they advance their careers.

Description: As a new professional, there is a lot to learn and there are HR questions you may not feel comfortable to ask your manager regarding your personal career development and advancement.


Objectives: During this session, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions to a panel of peers, managers, and experienced HR professionals.

This full-day event will allow participants to learn about career development with tangible examples and experience sharing on a variety of topics. There will also be ample opportunities built in for networking and kiosk exploration.

  • When: February 13th, 2023
  • Where: 111 Sussex Dr, Ottawa, ON K1N 1J1
  • Time: 8:30 am to 4 pm ET
  • Note: In keeping with the Career Boot Camp theme of your career your way, participants will choose their workshops upon arrival to tailor their day to their interests.

  • Identify key factors in making an appealing resume
  • Share the importance of a network and how to network across the GC from anywhere
  • Continue to connect with individuals from their region and build on new relationships
  • Recommend activities and best practices to enhance organizational culture while working remotely or in a hybrid model

Description: Participants will start the learning day in 1 of 4 different rooms. Each room will have a guided networking activity to get the audience warmed up to the idea of networking throughout the day.

  • Practice introducing themselves to their peers in a safe space
Branding: Setting Yourself Apart

Description: Having the right skills and experience is part of the equation but sometimes you need to make sure the right person knows what you can bring to a potential role. Join our speakers as they discuss learning about yourself, expressing what you can contribute, and finding opportunities to meet the people who can help you advance in your career.

  • Reflect on what unique skill/experience/attitude they have to contribute to the public service
