• Work on GetPrepared update is ongoing with the first round of updates 11 hazards/emergencies starting to go through approvals. Site content will be updated in 3 phases.

GC Forms presentation

• To create bilingual, secure and accessible online forms with no coding required
• Lets the public easily submit information
• This initiative was started because departments reported it took too long to create forms
• The team designed the form builder so that it guides you through the process

• The system holds the responses from the public for 60 days
• The team is working on improving usability as well as making forms that can process more complicated information using conditional logic

Questions

Q:How does it work for processing phone numbers?

A: Do not need to include dashes or brackets, this is good because users have complained about that.

Q: Is there a list of criteria for use?

A: You can use it for internal use, there’s no set of approved use cases. It’s the responsibility of the user to make sure that’s it’s approved for their use

Q: Is the data stored in Canada?

A: Yes, it’s through Amazon, stored in Montreal.

Q: For the name field - what about people that have only a single name?

A: You’re able to customize that field to accept one name only.

Q: Will GC forms replace printable .pdf forms?

A: No, we don’t recommend replacing your printable forms, due to issues such as some areas with low bandwidth, also it’s better to have other options available.

Q: For longer term forms, can staff simply collect responses every 60 days and keep the form running online?

A: Yes, this is possible.

Q: There are sections where the form turns red, is this still accessible?

A: Yes, it has been designed to work with screen-readers.

Q: Will a custom breadcrumb trail be available?

A: Yes, we’re working on that, no timelines at this point.

Q: Does the number system account for the differences in French and English?

A: No, the field just validates that what you’re entering is a number.

Q: Can you give examples when this would be suitable for internal use?

A: You can build English and French simultaneously, also can be secure. It depends on your needs really, for less complicated uses, Microsoft forms could be a better choice.

Q: Any plans to allow for uploads?

A: Something that we’re working on.

Q: Are there any problems with timing out?

A: No, as long as there’s no problems with the user’s computer, there’s no problems.

Q: When should we use this tool, and when should we use AEM forms?

A: GC forms can be a good option if you don’t have access to AEM.
