The Living Library and mentorship program can support employees from this community to grow throughout the public service to be in positions to enact positive changes.

Results from the 2020-2021 government of Canada Employment Equity in the Public Service of Canada report revealed that representation of persons with disabilities within the workforce is lower than the workforce availability. Although persons with disabilities exceed their workforce availability at the executive level, they continue to be overrepresented in the two lowest salary levels and under-represented in the two highest salary levels. In addition to the ongoing efforts to eliminate barriers to accessibility and inclusion of persons with disabilities in the public service, a formalized mentorship tool can be crucial in helping this equity deserving employee base accelerate their careers and achieve professional growth.
