In our family we love Christmas and always joked that as my last name is Noël my father is the père Noël.
Christmas at our house is usually unusual. I am ready for Christmas by September. I bake and cook 3 months straight before Christmas, with my friends and family, then on the 24<sup>th</sup> and 25<sup>th</sup> we play games, craft, listen to music & dance, eat lots of food and build a big fire outside and roast marshmallows all in our pyjamas.

| colspan="2" |In 2020, my husband an I both lost our fathers. Cory’s father passed away from a massive heart attack in January 2020 and my father passed away within a few weeks of discovering he had an aggressive lung cancer in December 2020. Let’s just say 2020 was not our usual happy holidays as we are just so sad and in shock with what 2020 had dealt everyone. There was no baking, cooking, laughter, fires or games. Instead I crafted these ornaments for our mothers in honor of our fathers so they could always be with us. And we had a modest Christmas celebration sharing gifts and memories. We are hoping that 2021 will be a return on to the path to our old celebrations but the emptiness is clearly still with us as I am still not ready for Christmas, no cooking done and the decorations are still in the garage. We are hoping to be able to start this weekend.
In honour of the 1 year anniversary of my father’s death (December 7) my mom and I baked a little. Please note my mom does not bake at all so this was more funny than anything, but it was a good start to the Christmas baking. Mom was wearing my dad’s apron, so he laughed with us.
