The Service Desk for Operational Oceanography (SeDOO will be the DFO (Department of Fisheries and Oceans) hub for the application of the operational ocean models that are developed and run at ECCC’s CCMEP (Environment and Climate Change Canada - Canadian Centre for Meteorological and Environmental Prediction). It will support the DFO-ECCC-DND collaboration, CONCEPTS (Canadian Operational Network of Coupled Environmental Prediction Systems), in ocean parameter predictions (e.g., sea ice, currents, temperature, salinity). It will also facilitate the application of hydrodynamic models to two national OPP activities (Oceans Protection Plan): drift prediction and hydrographic electronic navigation.

In the spirit of enhancing collaborative efforts between DFO and ECCC, and to take advantage of ECCC’s long expertise in using predictive models in an operational context, the Service Desk is located at ECCC’s CCMEP (Dorval, QC). The Service Desk is staffed by three new DFO hires ([[Patricia.Pernica@dfo-mpo.gc.ca|Patricia Pernica]], [[Yvonnick.LeClainche@dfo-mpo.gc.ca|Yvonnick Le Clainche]], [[corinne.bourgault-brunelle@canada.ca|Corinne Bourgault-Brunelle]]) and managed by Melinda Lontoc-Roy (Ocean Science Branch –National Capital Region, Ottawa), with on-site supervision provided by Paul Yang, Acting Chief, Analysis and Prognosis (ECCC). The initial focus of the Service Desk will be on supporting DFO’s internal operational oceanography needs:
