<big>Since 2012, the Departmental Security Officer (DSO) Centre for Development (CfD) has been fulfilling its mandate of fostering security community development across the Government of Canada. Initially conceived to support the development of DSOs and increase readiness, the raison d'être of the CfD has evolved over time. Its activities are now aimed, not only at increasing readiness, but also at supporting the adoption of a strong security posture and culture across government. Our new mission statement, adopted as part of our Strategic Plan 2017-2022, focuses on knowledge, resilience, and integration. These concepts permeate all the activities we undertake. For example, the CfD works hard to develop or support sound security practices and to disseminate them widely. We do so by increasing our reach with online tools such as the GCconnex [https://gcconnex.gc.ca/groups/profile/13250598/security-readiness-forum-forum-sur-la-preparation-en-matiere-de-securite '''Security Readiness Forum'''] (SRF), which is experiencing new growth.

<big>Formerly known as the Departmental Security Officer (DSO) Centre for Development (CfD), the Security Centre of Excellence (SCoE) has been in operation since 2012. Its mandate is to foster security community development and capacity building in order to achieve an expected level of readiness across government.<br><br>

 

Guided by a Board of Management and a new Strategic Plan, the SCoE serves the security community as a whole and aims to further facilitate the integration of government security and emergency management priorities.<br><br>

 

The SCoE acts as a force multiplier that facilitates cohesion throughout the security community. Building on expertise and best practices across the community, the SCoE aims to enhance readiness, preparedness and resilience.

We are also paying particular attention to the development of the next generation of security practitioners and leaders. Our mission is to lead the development of a knowledgeable, resilient and integrated security community across the Government of Canada.<br><br>

The SCoE achieves excellence in security by promoting consistent, predictable, and standardized approaches to most security issues. The SCoE acts as a catalyst for change and its activities will support the adoption of a robust security posture and culture across government.
