Notes and action items
COVID
- No more distribution monitoring of COVID tests for small and medium businesses
- New boosters will be authorized in December
- Health Canada is performing a ROT (redundant, outdated and trivial) exercise on COVID content
- 1,400 pages slated for deletion
- DTO encourages other departments to start doing the same and watch for broken links
Monkeypox
- Will be renamed M-Pox, but hold off on changing the name in content until it is confirmed
- The spread is slowing so it is being deprioritized in communications channels
Ebola
- No updates
Passports
- No updates
Travel
- No updates
PCO
- Principal Publisher sent out 522 links, please action them and/or fix any broken links you find
- A lot of the broken links have to do with the Consulting Canadians content
- If broken links are built into the ROT process that would be ideal
- May add a Slack channel to track this
Principal Publisher (PP)
- Reminder: Redirects are supposed to be temporary, will be sending emails asking for permission to delete some
- Nothing will be deleted without permission
- Working with clients on travel search optimization and ROT
Digital Transformation Office (DTO)
- Finalizing the accessibility feedback prototype - hoping to demo it next Wednesday
- Finalizing footer guidance
- Don’t implement it right away, please wait until January
- Principal Publisher will give departments time to look at the code then in January it will be made available for AEM and non-AEM sites
- It is especially important for departments who have contextualized footers to engage with Principal Publisher, PP has a list of departments with those footers and will reach out
Upcoming content
- Dental benefit and housing benefit content coming soon
- May have a promo for dental by November 28
DOCX to HTML demo
- Demo on the DOCX to HTML prototype: From DOCX to Canada.ca - Instructions
- The tool makes it possible to take a properly formatted .docx and convert it to code
- The tool is on the alpha workspace
- Putting it out there to see if the community finds it useful/sees problems with it
