What is a Peer Coaching Circle (PCC)?

A small, peer‑based groups of managers, supervisors, and team leads that follow a structured coaching process, guided by a trained facilitator or co‑facilitators. The facilitator frames each session, holds the process, and supports psychological safety, while participants practice a coaching approach. Each session focuses on one coachee who presents a real-life challenge, with members rotating into this role over time.

Through disciplined listening and thoughtful, open‑ended, non‑leading questions, peers support the coachee to reflect on their challenge, deepen their thinking, and surface their own insights. The coachee leads the content—identifying their own clarity, possibilities, and actions—with the facilitator guiding the process and peers contributing disciplined listening and quality questions.

What You’ll Gain

  • A safe, non‑judgmental space to explore real workplace challenges with peers from a range of federal organizations
  • Hands‑on experience using coaching tools and open‑ended questions that can be applied in your role as a manager—and beyond the workplace
  • Cross‑organizational peer connection, diverse perspectives, and collaborative learning
  • Practical strategies to strengthen leadership, resilience, and problem‑solving skills in both professional and personal contexts

Participant Expectations

  • Confidentiality is essential; what is shared in the circle stays within the circle.
  • The value of the circle depends on collective commitment—members are expected to show up for one another and attend sessions regularly.
  • This commitment respects the time invested by PCC facilitators in scheduling and leading sessions, as well as by peers who make themselves available to participate. Extenuating circumstances may arise and should be communicated to the PCC facilitators or co‑facilitators in advance whenever possible.

Note: In the Quebec region, “Co-development” groups is another initiative offered for managers and supervisors.

Time investment: In general, members meet virtually every 4–6 weeks for 1 hour. The 2026-2027 cycle runs from September 2026 to June 2027.
