Online consultation: Supply Chain Regulatory Review
On November 7, 2023, TBS launched an online consultation through the Let’s Talk Federal Regulations platform to support the Supply Chain Regulatory Review. This review:
- is being undertaken as part of the Government of Canada’s third round of Targeted Regulatory Reviews
- will examine regulations and regulatory practices to identify opportunities to support efficient and effective supply chains
The consultation aims to gather feedback on three themes:
- critical minerals
- transportation
- border operations
Although targeted input is being sought, interested organizations and individuals can also submit broader comments on relevant regulations and regulatory practices.

Latest advice from the External Advisory Committee on Regulatory Competitiveness
The External Advisory Committee on Regulatory Competitiveness (EACRC) advises the President of the Treasury Board on how to promote and advance regulatory excellence and modernization. In its most recent advice, the EACRC made recommendations under three key thematic areas:
- prioritizing regulatory excellence across government
- equipping Canada’s regulators to be world class
- modernizing regulatory engagement

Progress update on the first and second rounds of Targeted Regulatory Reviews
TBS and participating departments and agencies have published updates on progress made to date in implementing Regulatory Roadmaps from the first and second rounds of the Targeted Regulatory Reviews. Through these reviews, departments and agencies examined regulatory irritants and opportunities in six key sectors and themes. The reviews were informed by stakeholder input, and Regulatory Roadmaps were developed to advance regulatory modernization while maintaining strong health, safety, security, and environmental protections.
The updates provide a summary of the progress made in implementing over 100 Regulatory Roadmap initiatives, including legislative and regulatory changes, updated policies and practices, and opportunities to support emerging technologies. Now available: the joint report of the fifth meeting of the Canada–European Union Regulatory Cooperation Forum
The Canada–European Union (EU) Regulatory Cooperation Forum (RCF) exists within the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between Canada and the EU. The joint report of the fifth meeting of the RCF, which took place on April 27 and 28, 2023, is now available. During the fifth meeting, the RCF co-chairs met with Canadian and European regulators and stakeholders to discuss issues of mutual interest, including consumer product safety, pediatric medicines and animal welfare.

Visit the Regulatory Reconciliation and Cooperation Table’s redesigned website about the Canadian Free Trade Agreement
On September 27, the Regulatory Reconciliation and Cooperation Table (RCT) redesigned its website about the Canadian Free Trade Agreement to make it easier for Canadians to find information about the RCT’s activities and the progress being made to address regulatory barriers to trade within Canada. The new website’s modern design makes information about the RCT’s work more readily available and easier to understand.
Updates on the progress of existing regulatory reconciliation and cooperation work plans, as well as on the implementation of completed work plan items, will be posted on the website in the coming months.
