Gabrielle FitzGerald

Chief Data Officer, Canadian Food Inspection Agency

Gabrielle FitzGerald joined the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) as the Chief Data and Chief Risk Officer in December of 2021. She leads a diverse group of policy, program and IT professionals responsible for the Agency’s Information Management (IM) program, its Data and Analytics Strategies, and Artificial Intelligence initiatives; responding to the science and regulatory data needs for food safety and animal & plant health.

Prior to joining the CFIA, she led the implementation of Infrastructure Canada’s Data Strategy, including responsibility of Canada’s first ever national survey of public infrastructure and the department’s research contributions program. With over two decades of experience as a Canadian federal public servant, her expertise has helped to shape the delivery of Canada’s mineral statistics program; led to the design and implementation of anti-corruption legislation through the Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act – Canada’s response to the G8 commitment on global transparency in the extractives sector; and chaired key data roles in Canada’s contribution to the international Kimberley Process – a regulatory regime put in place to deter the trade of conflict diamonds. She holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and a specialization in computer science and combinatorics and optimization.

Director General, Statistics Canada

Tom Dufour is Director General for Statistics Canada's Strategic Data Management Branch, home of the Office of the Chief Data Officer, where he brings together experts in data standards and stewardship, statistical infrastructure and geomatics and privacy management to support initiatives across the Agency and with key government partners. He has helped drive advancements in program areas at Statistics Canada for over 30 years ranging from social statistics to macroeconomics.




David Collister

David Collister

Manager, Data Governance, Fisheries and Oceans Canada

David Collister is an accomplished and forward-thinking leader with a prolific career encompassing two decades as a public servant in a myriad of organizational contexts, mission-critical endeavors, and progressively prominent roles. He is responsible for developing and providing leadership on the Data Strategy for Fisheries and Oceans Canada, a large science, regulatory, and service delivery department within the Government of Canada. Key accomplishments include establishing organizational frameworks for data governance, data quality, ethical data use, data literacy, competencies, and the Department's first AI strategy.

Director, Performance, Oversight and Governance, Information and Data Governance, Data and Digital Policy, Office of the Chief Information Officer of Canada, Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat

Alexandra is the Director of Performance and Oversight within the Information and Data Governance team at the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat. She and her team are responsible for leading the implementation of the Data Strategy for the Federal Public Service (2023-2026). Alexandra is passionate about “telling the data story” and has spent most of her public service career in the area of performance measurement. She has previously held various leadership positions with Employment and Social Development Canada, the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Alexandra has a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from Carleton University.
