Anti-Racism Ambassadors Network Recruitment

The Anti-Racism Ambassadors Network (the Network) was established to support existing efforts in the public service to dismantle systemic racism with an intersectional lens . The Network aims to create a space for public servants in Canada at the municipal, provincial, territorial and federal level, to share knowledge, spread information and take action.

ARAN is different in that it is a grass-roots group of public servants volunteering from across Canada and not tied to any Government organization. Currently the Network acts as a community mobilizer and connector to collect, amplify, house and disseminate information and resources on Anti-Racism activity for all to use. In doing so, it will also amplify the work being done by BIPOC colleagues and connect all people working in this space.

It will also serve as a network to encourage and support members in taking practical action to dismantle systemic racism. We recognize that this is a community effort and it will take collective partnerships and action to affect change. This includes but is not limited to the work of existing networks like the Black Employees Network(s), Indigenous Employee Network(s), Visible Minorities Network(s), Federal Black Employees Caucus (FBEC), 2SLGBTQIA+/Pride networks and other similar communities as well as resources from organizations and departments standing up their own Anti-Racism units.

As this Network grows, it aims to help bridge and identify gaps in the area of Anti-Racism across public service organizations in Canada where feasible.

We’re looking for volunteers!

The current Anti-Racism Ambassadors Network team is expanding. We are looking for support to continue developing the Network. We aim to strengthen and grow the community of BIPOC and allies working towards racial justice. We are a team of public servants from across government departments and regions who work honestly, respectfully, openly and flexibly.

Current Opportunities

We’re looking for team leads and members in the following focus areas:

Communications Team

• Manage/organize/develop social media content
• Maintain and create ARAN social media accounts
• Write and create content for digital newsletter
• Translation Support (French)

Website Team

• Website creation and design (GitHub)
• Organize content and resources on the website
• Ongoing website maintenance

If you are interested in graphic design, coding, content planning/creation or want to unleash your creativity behind the scenes, these would be a good fit!

ARAN Secretariat

• Support the organization/maintenance of distribution list(s) and meeting highlights
• Support coordination/development of inter-organizational monthly meetings

If you like to work behind-the-scenes and work of an organization and planning nature with clear direction, this would suit you well.

Engagement & Events Team

• Assist in the coordination of inter-organizational events (i.e. search for speakers)
• Act as a liason within the anti-racist/racial justice landscape
• Foster relationships with communities performing similar work

If you enjoy meeting and connecting with people and event/logistical planning, this would be ideal for you.

L'équipe actuelle du réseau antiraciste (ARAR) s'agrandit. Nous recherchons du soutien pour continuer à développer le réseau. Nous visons à renforcer et à développer la communauté des PANDC et de ses alliés œuvrant pour la justice raciale. Secrétariat du ARAR

• Soutenir l'organisation / la maintenance des listes de distribution et des points importants des réunions
• Soutenir la coordination / le développement de réunions mensuelles inter-organisationnelles

Si vous aimez travailler dans les coulisses et le travail de nature organisationnelle et de planification avec une direction claire, cela vous conviendrait bien.

Équipe engagement et événements

• Aider à la coordination d'événements inter-organisationnels (c.-à-d. Recherche de conférenciers)
• Agir en tant que liaison dans le domaine de la justice antiraciste / raciale
• Favoriser les relations avec les communautés effectuant un travail similaire

Si vous aimez rencontrer et communiquer avec des gens et organiser des événements / logistiques, ce serait idéal pour vous.
