Ce regain d’énergie et de motivation a valu à YAI l’honneur de se classer parmi les cinq premiers réseaux d’investisseurs providentiels au Canada en 2015 et 2016; et la première place en 2017 et 2018. Au cours de cette période, YAI a établi un record du plus grand nombre de membres d’investisseurs providentiels en Ontario et le deuxième en importance quant au nombre de membres au Canada. Jess Joss a terminé son travail avec YAI à la fin du mois de juin 2019, ce qui lui a permis de saisir une occasion qui combinait son investissement et sa passion pour l’entrepreneuriat.
En octobre 2019, Jess Joss a dirigé le lancement d’Equation, après avoir été annoncée comme sa PDG fondatrice. Cette alliance stratégique réunit trois vénérables groupes d’anges investisseurs : Angel One (Burlington), Golden Triangle Angel Network aussi appelé GTAN (Kitchener-Waterloo) et le Southwestern Ontario Angel Network ou SWO (London). Ce réseau d’anges est aujourd’hui le plus important en Ontario et le deuxième au Canada. Equation propose un processus simplifié de sélection, de présentation et de diligence raisonnable pour les fondateurs qui lèvent des fonds d’action. De plus, pour les 200 investisseurs membres, il crée une occasion unique d’obtenir un accès rapide et exclusif aux entreprises les plus prometteuses, de négocier les meilleures transactions et de réaliser des investissements rapides. Il s’agit d’un rôle stimulant et complexe; Jess Joss aime travailler en étroite collaboration avec des personnes épatantes (collègues, anges et partenaires de l’écosystème). Elle prend actuellement un court congé sabbatique et se réjouit à l’idée de reprendre ce rôle passionnant dans les mois à venir.
Pendant cette période, elle continue à faire preuve de leadership et à apporter une contribution essentielle à l’écosystème des entreprises et de l’investissement au Canada. Elle favorise l’innovation pendant la phase de démarrage par de l’encadrement et du mentorat, elle est conférencière à des événements liés à l’entrepreneuriat et à l’investissement et elle est juge de concours de présentation. Jill Earthy is an entrepreneurially minded leader who believes diversity drives innovation. Anne Lamar is the Visiting Senior Assistant Deputy Minister responsible for the implementation of the SSC 3.0 initiative, Communications, Strategy and Corporate Secretariat and has been with Shared Services Canada since April 2019
Anne has held various Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) positions; most recently as the Senior Assistant Deputy Minister of Strategic Policy at Fisheries and Oceans Canada where she provided leadership on critical and cross-cutting departmental and ministerial priorities, including reconciliation with Indigenous peoples, the international oceans agenda and fisheries policy.
Prior to that she held a number of roles at Health Canada: as Assistant Deputy Minister of Regulatory Operations and Regions, where she led the creation of a new Branch to modernize the compliance and enforcement regime enabling Health Canada to respond in a global environment and protect the health and safety of Canadians; Associate ADM, Health Products and Food Branch; and ADM, Communications and Public Affairs.
Over the course of her career, she has worked in a number of other departments including Industry Canada and Natural Resources Canada.
Anne has a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University and a Certificate of Public Administration from the University of Ottawa.

Kelly Hutchinson helps government and industry engage, collaborate and innovate public service delivery.
A procurement modernization junkie at heart, Kelly is passionate about connecting people, supporting their purpose, challenging the status quo and solving meaty issues.
As governments at all levels are experiencing similar issues related to enterprise transformation, modernization and digital service delivery; Kelly’s work now stems beyond the Government of Canada, where best practices are being leveraged across provincial and municipal governments to bolster the dialogue on digital government initiatives and related policy matters.
Prior to joining Edelman, Kelly was the Vice President of Government Relations and Policy at the Information Technology Association of Canada, where she counselled organizations of all sizes on how to align to and support Government of Canada mandates, transformation plans and digital service strategies. In this role Kelly was adept at balancing competing policy and business interests across a diverse membership of 350-plus member companies, identifying and delivering policy wins that benefited all.
Her strong business acumen and government development success also stems from leading her own consultancy, which operated during a time of exponential change in how the Government of Canada consumed, deployed and managed ICT.
Kelly is a new (but old) mom, wife, dog lover and hostess with the mostest. Acadian roots with a Jamaican soul, Kelly lives in Gatineau Park with her family and entertains every chance she gets. Life is worth living!

Amy was named Vice President of Corporate Affairs and External Communications at Seaspan Shipyards in September 2019. She brings to the role more than 25 years of communications experience in the technology and defence sectors.
An expert in shaping complex business, financial, and technical developments into global strategic communications and corporate programs, Amy held a series of executive communications positions prior to joining Seaspan. Most recently, she served as Vice President, Strategic Communications and Corporate Diversity Officer at Mitel where, as the senior communications executive and spokesperson, Amy had global responsibility for all corporate communications. Prior to joining Mitel, Amy worked in senior communications roles at General Dynamics Canada, Alcatel-Lucent, and Newbridge Networks Corporation. She began her career as a political staffer on Parliament Hill.
Amy obtained a Bachelor of Political Science from the University of Waterloo. She also completed Certification in Diversity and Inclusion at Cornell University; and the Executive Development Marketing Program at Queen’s University. A frequent speaker and moderator, Amy has been invited to share her expertise at many speaking engagements and conferences, including TEDx Kanata.

Dr. Mejda Benali joined the National Research Council after spending over seven years with Agrisoma Biosciences, an agricultural based clean-tech company, where she was responsible for ensuring Agrisoma products (seed, grain, oil and meal) gained national and international market access and complied with regulatory and sustainability certification requirements to ensure successful commercialization in Canada, the United States, Europe, Latin America and Australia.
Prior to that she was Director, Agricultural and Environmental Policy and Industry Relations at BIOTECanada, the national industry association with a membership of over 200 corporations representing Canada’s health, industrial and agricultural biotechnology sectors, where she led the Agriculture and Nutrition Advisory Board and the Environmental and Industrial committees.
Mejda is the co-inventor of four patents related to meal production and processing, as well as in greenhouse gas reduction agriculture-based technologies. She is a multi-award winning scientist, with a Ph.D. in Soil Environmental Chemistry from Laval University, Canada, a M.Sc. International Sustainable Development from Ghent University, Belgium and a B.Sc. in Agricultural Engineering from the National Agricultural Institute, Algeria.
Mejda was also the co-founder of a Canadian SaaS company that develops and commercializes the first “Mobile School” solution, a Canadian innovation that helps Canadian and foreign based government stakeholders and educational institutions provide a practical, scalable and cost-effective advanced multilingual e-learning solution to help students in remote communities meet the mandatory national education standards.

Previously, Vidya worked at Employment and Social Development (ESDC), where she led the digital delivery of social and employment benefit services to Canadians. She has also worked at the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, Global Affairs Canada, Passport Canada and Nortel Networks.
Vidya holds a Masters degree in Design and Technology from Carleton University.
In her spare time, Vidya practises yoga and meditation and is a champion for mental health and well-being.

Ce qu’elle ignorait à l’époque, c’est qu’elle se dirigeait tout droit vers un mur, et que ces mots allaient devenir « effrayée », « engourdie » et « brisée ».
Il a fallu à Véronique près d’une décennie pour qu’elle se retrouve et puisse commencer à partager son histoire. Aujourd’hui, Véronique est une conférencière prisée du Bureau des conférenciers fédéraux sur les milieux de travail sains et a eu l’occasion de raconter son histoire. Elle [ID1] a appris qu’elle ne « guérira » jamais de la dépression, mais que cela ne l’empêchera pas de vivre une vie extraordinaire. Nouvellement mariée, Véronique mène une carrière réussie, a une famille exceptionnelle et a retrouvé sa passion. La dépression n’a pas fait d’elle un échec, elle l’a seulement rendue plus forte.

Inspector Isobel Granger has advocated on behalf of issues affecting women and children most of her life. Her hard work, excellence, professionalism and service have made a profound difference in the lives of women in Canada and abroad.
From her role as the first black officer to join the ranks with the British South Africa Police in segregated Rhodesia (which became Zimbabwe) and as one of the first five black female officer with the Ottawa Police Service 1994; as a leader of a platoon; a supervisor in the Ottawa Police Youth Section, Diversity and Race Relations, OPS Partner Assault Unit (Domestic Violence), through to her work delivering gender-based sexual violence training to UN personnel in peace operations around the world, and currently as Inspector, Criminal Investigations Directorate and her lifelong commitment to empowering individuals towards better lives and social change is truly extraordinary.
Inspector Granger is a catalyst for change that engages, motivates and inspires young women to consider the role they can play in strengthening the civic fabric of Canada. As part of a United Nations Women and Justice Rapid Response Roster Initiative, Inspector Granger is part of a small roster of a people from around the world, who in 2012 were sworn in at The Hague, Netherlands as International criminal Court Investigators, qualified to investigate Sexual Gender Based Violence related War Crimes against state leaders at the International Level. In 2015 she deployed to Cambodia as one of eight investigators from around the world investigating atrocities and war crimes perpetrated against the Cambodian population during the Khmer Rouge era. Currently as part of Canada’s National Action Plan on Gender Reform she delivers GBA+ (Gender Based Analysis Plus) training to federal departments from across Canada and abroad. She has travelled to many countries delivering workshops to educate organizations, leaders and individuals on how to create inclusive environments through integrating gender and diversity through practice and process. Inspector Granger Has a Bachelor or Arts (BA) in Policing Studies and a Masters Degree (MA) in Leadership.

Son engagement à changer la société est vraiment extraordinaire.
L’inspectrice Granger est un catalyseur de changement qui mobilise, motive et inspire les jeunes femmes à réfléchir au rôle qu’elles peuvent prendre dans le renforcement du tissu de la société canadienne. Dans le cadre d’une initiative de l’Intervention rapide au service de la justice et du groupe Femmes des Nations Unies, l’inspectrice Granger fait partie d’un petit groupe de personnes du monde entier qui, en 2012, ont prêté serment à La Haye, aux Pays-Bas, en tant qu’enquêteurs de la Cour pénale internationale, et qui sont qualifiés pour enquêter sur les crimes de guerre liés à la violence sexuelle et sexiste contre des dirigeants d’État à l’échelle internationale. En 2015, elle a fait partie des huit enquêteurs du monde entier qui ont été déployés au Cambodge et qui étaient chargés d’enquêter sur les atrocités et les crimes de guerre perpétrés contre la population cambodgienne pendant l’ère des Khmers rouges. Dans le cadre du plan d’action national du Canada et de réforme sur l’égalité entre les sexes, elle offre en ce moment une formation sur l’analyse comparative entre les sexes plus aux ministères et organismes fédéraux du Canada et de l’étranger. Dr. Jacline Nyman has been appointed Vice-President, External Relations, for a five-year term beginning August 13, 2018.
As vice-president, external relations, Jacline is responsible for the activities of the Development Office, the Alumni Relations Office, the Communications Directorate, Language Services and Advancement Services, ensuring they are consistent with the University’s mission.
Prior to joining the University of Ottawa, Jacline was the president and CEO of United Way Centraide Canada, where she led a national movement for social change. She engaged with stakeholders through donor, government and media relations, participating in public policy development and driving the United Way mission forward. Jacline was at the forefront of a bold transformation of one of Canada’s oldest and most trusted brands.
Immediately prior to assuming this leadership role, Jacline worked with the Smith School of Business (Queen’s University) as executive director of development and alumni relations, serving as principal gifts strategist and chief development officer. She personally negotiated many significant philanthropic gifts and business partnerships, working with stakeholders around the globe. Prior to that, she worked as vice-president of fundraising and donor relations at the York University Foundation and director of development and external relations at the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business.
As a non-profit sector leader, Jacline engages frequently in public speaking on a wide range of topics, including organizational leadership, philanthropy and fundraising, transformational change and modernization. Most recently, she spoke on the topic of “The Future of Generosity, Philanthropy and Artificial Intelligence” and on “The Future of Corporate Philanthropy and New Technologies” at the Economic Club of Canada. In 2015, she spoke to Canada 2020 about “5 Big Ideas for the Future of Canada.” She currently volunteers on a number of advisory boards, and actively mentors young professionals as they navigate their careers.
Jacline received an adjunct professor appointment at the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa in 2012 and upon her appointment as vice-president becomes associate professor. Formerly, as an assistant professor at Queen’s School of Business (Queen’s University), Jacline taught marketing, marketing ethics and social responsibility. She has ongoing research interests in marketing, corporate social responsibility, and philanthropy. In 2011, Jacline concluded a major research project entitled “Transformational philanthropy and networks of co-created value in Canada.” In 2016, she co-authored a paper, entitled “Identifying the roles of the university’s fundraiser in securing transformational gifts: Lessons from Canada”, published in Studies in Higher Education (SRHE).
Jacline holds a Bachelor of Administration (University of Ottawa); an MBA (University of Calgary); a doctorate in Business Administration — Marketing (Cranfield University, U.K.); and, the ICD.D corporate governance designation from Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.

En tant que vice-rectrice aux relations extérieures, Jacline supervisera les activités du Bureau du développement, des Relations avec les diplômés, de la Direction générale des communications, des Services linguistiques et du Service de gestion informationnelle, en veillant à ce que ces activités s’inscrivent dans la mission de l’Université.
Avant de se joindre à l’Université d’Ottawa, Jacline occupait le poste de présidente-directrice générale de Centraide United Way Canada, où elle dirigeait un mouvement pancanadien favorisant le changement social. Son travail auprès des donateurs, du gouvernement et des médias lui a permis de participer à l’élaboration de politiques publiques pour faire avancer la mission de Centraide. Jacline était ainsi à l’avant-garde de la métamorphose d’une des marques les plus vieilles et les plus dignes de confiance du Canada.
Juste avant, Jacline Nyman travaillait à la Smith School of Business de l’Université Queen’s à titre de directrice générale, Développement et Relations avec les anciens. Midia was also one of 145 youth accepted into the prestigious graduate fellowship Schwarzman Scholars program class 2021.

Il y a une raison pour laquelle on se fixe des objectifs : c’est un but à atteindre. Si vous vous êtes fixé un objectif et que vous ne faites rien pour l’atteindre, c’est comme si vous achetiez un billet de loterie et espériez gagner. Vos chances sont d’une sur 200 millions. Si vous voulez quelque chose dans la vie, et que vous la voulez vraiment, vous devez être déterminé.
Parlons de ces femmes très performantes qui sont perçues comme étant « difficiles ». Changeons notre façon de raconter notre histoire; trouvons la paix et la fierté d’être qui nous sommes.
