“Perfectionist, superwoman, the cheerleader!” Words Véronique remembers using at the age of 25 during a training about stress management when asked, “How would you describe yourself in three words?” Little did she know, the freight train was coming straight for her and those words would change to afraid, numb and broken.
It took her close to a decade to find herself and be able to start sharing her story. Today, Véronique is a sought after speaker with the Federal Speaker’s Bureau on Healthy Workplaces and has had the chance to share her story. She has learned that she will never be “cured” of depression, but she can live an amazing life regardless. She has a successful career, newly married, has an amazing family and has found her passion again. Depression didn’t make her a failure, it only made her stronger.

« Perfectionniste, “Superwoman”, boute-en-train! » Des mots que Véronique se souvient avoir utilisés à 25 ans durant une formation sur la gestion du stress lorsqu’on lui a demandé : « Comment vous décririez-vous en trois mots?». Ce qu’elle ignorait à l’époque, c’est qu’elle se dirigeait tout droit vers un mur, et que ces mots allaient devenir « effrayée », « engourdie » et « brisée ».
Il a fallu à Véronique près d’une décennie pour qu’elle se retrouve et puisse commencer à partager son histoire. Aujourd’hui, Véronique est une conférencière prisée du Bureau des conférenciers fédéraux sur les milieux de travail sains et a eu l’occasion de raconter son histoire. Elle [ID1] a appris qu’elle ne « guérira » jamais de la dépression, mais que cela ne l’empêchera pas de vivre une vie extraordinaire. Nouvellement mariée, Véronique mène une carrière réussie, a une famille exceptionnelle et a retrouvé sa passion. La dépression n’a pas fait d’elle un échec, elle l’a seulement rendue plus forte.
