GC Innovator Living Library

Welcome to the GC Innovator Living Library! This initiative aims to facilitate connection and information sharing among public servants in the GC innovation community.

What is it?

A catalogue of the names and contact information of experienced GC innovators who have volunteered to share their time and stories as ‘living books’. This catalogue is evergreen. Living books can be added or removed at any time.

How does it work?

Public servants can browse through a variety of living books and pick one to ‘borrow’. They can do this by sending an email to the living book to express interest in setting up a one-on-one conversation.

How can I be added as a living book?

Send an email to the Hubs & Labs Meetup Team with the following in both English and French:

• 1-2 sentences introducing yourself and what you do
• Your areas of expertise in the public service and/or innovation space, in 2-3 bullets (e.g. Policy, IT, Regulatory, HR)
• Your language(s) of choice (English, French, both)
• 1-2 fun facts about yourself
• Contact information (e.g. work email address)
• A headshot/photo/avatar of yourself

Bruce Radburn Bruce Radburn	Hello, I’m Bruce Radburn, born in Ottawa, and have lived in Montreal, Toronto, Vevey and D.R. with lots of world travel. Although I started my career in international, I’ve shifted towards public service innovation for many years including the Innovation Hubs & Labs, BluePrint and Beyond 2020. I’ve had the opportunity to help launch three employee idea programs, developed innovation as part of a 25-year plan at the SBU at Nestlé S.A. in Switzerland. My experience and passion for innovation stuck with my as I returned to Ottawa, and now I’m a Senior Innovation Advisor. I like to practice what I preach as an entrepreneur at heart, try to be a first-mover, and for example contributing ideas and creating new events for GCWCC as the Campaign Lead for 2023.  Also a self-proclaimed futurist, with long time studies in strategic foresight. Carmen Gervais Carmen Gervais	I manage a team of experts at ESDC’s Transformation Accelerator Hub that provide Design Thinking services to rapidly build and test client-centric solutions to drive service transformation. Our services are product, time and Transformation driven: in 12 weeks or less we co-develop end-user tested prototyped solutions to real business problems while building capability in Design Thinking methodology and modern ways of working with our ESDC clients (the problem owners).	Certifications: IDEOU Advanced Design Thinking, IDEOU Human-Centered Design, ProSci Change Management Practitioner, MSP. I've supported program redesign, policy-to-service framework development, and service delivery modernization across multiple business lines. Leading a Journey Lab, which is a new departmental service to drive Transformation work and uses cross-organizational, iterative approaches for client and employee experience enhancement to develop a Minimum Viable Product with immediate value and drives incremental progress towards the ideal future state. Catherine Lovatt-Smith Catherine Lovatt-Smith	Since September 2021, Catherine has held the position of Project Manager at the Federal Council's Innovation Laboratory of Quebec. David Elliott David Elliott	Currently working as a Senior Service Designer, Transport Canada. Consider myself to be a theory informed practitioner, exploring both the science and art of my practice. Jason Solomon Jason's avatar, created from DallE-3	I have a passion for building high performance teams that build high performance services, using the latest advancements in technology and management technique to achieve incredible outcomes.  I encompass a unique space from global to ground perspective, taking into account all environmental variables.  My future goal is to transform a single organisation in its entirety to give us a glimpse of what the 22nd century citizen centric service delivery with enabled employees can achieve. Roxanne Roxanne's avatar	I’m the National Innovation Lead for the Canadian Security and Intelligence Service (CSIS), a new position under our new directorate, the Transformation Hub. For obvious reasons, I can only use my first name and avatar here!	I spent 12 years recruiting spies and Mounties across Canada, using my communications and marketing skills to grab attention. I also worked in media/public relations, talent management, and as a newspaper journalist – my first professional job. Steph Percival Steph Percival	Steph Percival has been a public servant with the Government of Canada for 15 years. Currently, she manages a Transformation Enablement team at Shared Services Canada. She believes that a thriving, healthy workplace is the cornerstone of exceptional service delivery.	Steph’s multidisciplinary experience spans fields that include policy, communications, engagement, human-centred design, and experimentation.
