Inclusion & Accessibility are key pillars of ESDC Workplace. Our department is demonstrating leadership in this area by implementing a modernized work environment offering flexible and dynamic workspaces with inclusion and accessibility features that accommodate employees with visible and invisible disabilities.

ESDC Workplace is a welcoming, inclusive, and barrier-free work environment that supports employees by:

Improving Inclusion & Accessibility Features at ESDC Workplaces

Inclusion and accessibility features at ESDC Workplace are evolving. Below are some of the inclusion and accessibility features that may be available in your ESDC Workplace now or coming soon.

Inclusion

Ensures that all individuals are welcome, respected, and included in the workplace.

Functional zones and adjustable lighting

Supports neurodiversity with a variety of spaces and functional zones that accommodate different sensory needs, including adjustable lighting to accommodate those with light sensitivity or visual impairments

Inclusive signage
Tactile signs throughout the workplace, excludes braille

All access washrooms
Fully accessible universal washrooms with at least one adult change table at each work location

Accessibility

Allows equitable, barrier-free access to all individuals, regardless of visible or invisible disabilities.

Wider hallways, circulation areas and entrances
Reduces congestion and accommodates larger mobility devices

Accessible appliances and features
Includes two-height water fountains with bottle filling stations, and accessible appliances and accessories in kitchenettes, washrooms & other facilities where required. (ex: automatic faucets, hot and cold-water taps, automatic soap dispenser, easy access to outlets)

Wayfinding beacons

Located in client spaces, to provide navigation assistance both to and through our spaces

Sound attenuation systems

System that masks ambient sounds and conversations to manage noise from different areas

Controlled use of colours

Colours of walls, doors, frames, etc. established for higher contrast to assist with wayfinding

Adjustable lighting levels
Located in rooms to accommodate those with disabilities affected by lighting levels
