Uploading Documents or Images and Adding Them to Wiki Articles

How do I upload a document or image file?

In order for your documents or images to be included in wiki articles they first need to be uploaded to the wiki server.

1) Uploading files to the server

  1. Click on "Upload file" in the toolbox located on the bottom - left navigation column (This is the navigation that is constantly present on all wiki pages.)
  2. Click on the "Browse..." button and find the file you want to upload from your computer.
  3. You have the option of re-naming the file by entering the new name in the "Destination filename" field.
(This is useful if the file you created has a generic name such as "PressRelease4521.pdf" and you would rather have the file name displayed as something more descriptive such as "Mountain pine beetle - April 4 news release.pdf".)
  4. Click on the "Upload file" button.
  5. NOTE: maximum file size for uploading files is 16MB, and the types of files you can upload is limited to image files (png, gif, and jpg), Microsoft Word (doc), Microsoft Excel (xls), Microsoft PointPoint (ppt), PDFs (pdf), and Corel WordPerfect (wpd). You can also upload files with the extensions ogg, zip, and txt.
  6. A copy of the file has now been added to the wiki server. You can see a list of all uploaded files by going to the special page: File List.

Now that the file you want to post has been uploaded to Wiki you will be able to include it with an article. To add an image or document file to a wiki article, follow the instructions below.

Make sure you enter the file name exactly as it appears in the list of uploaded files. Links are case-sensitive.
    1. Image files will appear as images within the article.
  4. Remember to click the Save page button to save your changes.

3) Adding other file types to Wiki articles
