* I choose GCcollab to host my learning group, as it offers the ability to communicate broadly across the Federal Public Service as well as provincial and municipal public services and academia. This was particularly important to me, as some of my participants are for example from the City of Ottawa, and I might resort to help from one of Canada’s academic institutions to help educate public servants in the future. Being able to invite individual participants that do not work for a public service or academia is also an important feature, as I might ask external data tool specialists to assist in some of my learning events in the future.

All information about HRC Events, MCC Awards, HR Projects, and Tools/Best Practices is posted there. The HR Council is comprised of all Heads of HR from the core public administration as well as separate agencies and crown corporations. As senior managers in their own departments, HRC members contribute to the achievement of the people management agenda by ensuring that the needs of their organization are met and that their Deputy Head is positioned to fulfill all of his or her responsibilities for people management.

GCconnex allows us to share information and notify all users of any new material/information in a timely manner, and w we can reach a larger audience with ease. We also use GCconnex to do promotion for HR Council and our events such as smart shops and our annual Michelle. C.Comeau Award. GCconnex is mostly used as our one stop-shop for sharing information. <br>

Since we serve various functional communities, it allows us to share documents and interact with various HR professionals from across the Public Service. We can directly engage with our audience. <br>

We can also re-direct our members to other various interdepartmental GCconnex pages if they need to find and learn about a specific community of practice, so it definitely saves time on that front.
