* I choose GCcollab to host my learning group, as it offers the ability to communicate broadly across the Federal Public Service as well as provincial and municipal public services and academia. This was particularly important to me, as some of my participants are for example from the City of Ottawa, and I might resort to help from one of Canada’s academic institutions to help educate public servants in the future. Being able to invite individual participants that do not work for a public service or academia is also an important feature, as I might ask external data tool specialists to assist in some of my learning events in the future.
* GCcollab offered me just the right amount of exposure, not fully public, but allows me to help improve data literacy across Canada’s wider Public Service. Another useful feature is that I can access GCcollab from home, and outside of business hours, as this work does not really form part of my day job, but is a personal side-project.
* My goal is to improve data tool and analytics literacy among public servants, and GCcollab offered just the right audience and tools (in combination with Webex) for this goal.
* I used both, GCcollab and GCconnex to advertise on various data related groups for my learning series. I am also pointing participants to data related groups on GCcollab and GCconnex, as well as related pages on GCpedia.
