Emilie Eve Gravel, Ph.D.

Senior Advisor, Canada School of Public Service

Emilie Eve Gravel lives on the Traditional Unceded Territory of the Anishinaabeg peoples and serves as a Senior Advisor with the Data Community at the Canada School of Public Service. She is the founder and chair of the GC Research and Data Ethics Working Group, a community dedicated to help public servants gain the knowledge, skills, and mindsets they need to implement research and data ethics in their work. She has also taught research methods and ethics for the federal public service and at the undergraduate level at University of Ottawa. Her work with the Data Community involves fostering a thriving data culture by integrating human-centered approaches to data literacy and data talent. They previously worked as a behavioural scientist with Employment and Social Development Canada, where they conducted research on program and service modernization. They hold a Ph.D. in experimental psychology from the University of Ottawa with a focus on motivation, well-being, and culture.

-<p>Andrea Johnston is the Assistant Deputy Minister, [https://ised-isde.canada.ca/site/innovation-canada/en Innovation Canada], an organization within Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED). Innovation Canada acts as a single-window for business innovation support so that Canadian innovators and entrepreneurs can best find and access government programs and services. In this role, Andrea leads the delivery of several flagship business innovation programs for the Government of Canada, including the Innovation Superclusters Initiative, the Strategic Innovation Fund, Innovative Solutions Canada, the Canada Digital Adoption Program, the IP Centre of Expertise, and the Accelerated Growth Service. From funding to expert advice to driving new collaborations, these programs and services are designed to help businesses innovate, create jobs and grow Canada's economy. Andrea is also the department’s Diversity and Inclusion champion, driving ISED’s inclusion activities internally but also ensuring the Department is taking a policy and program lens in this area.</p>
