Christine Beauchamp

Director of Client Engagement & Incident Detection at the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security, Communications Security Establishment
Christine Beauchamp is the Director of Client Engagement & Incident Detection at the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security, in the Communications Security Establishment. Christine joined CSE in 2005 and spent most of her career there using communications technology to provide foreign intelligence to the Government of Canada. She specialized in security operations, deployed abroad in support of the military and counter-terrorism efforts. She was also the Manager for SIGINT Policy, Oversight & Compliance, where she worked on legal and privacy requirements in conducting intelligence operations. In 2018, she joined the cyber security mission of CSE with the creation of the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security, where she is responsible for providing cyber security services and training to Canadians, and monitoring GC networks for threats and compromises.

Sony Perron

Executive Vice-President, Shared Services Canada
Sony Perron joined Shared Services Canada (SSC) in October 2020 as Executive Vice-President (EVP). Prior to arriving at SSC, he held the position of Associate Deputy Minister at Indigenous Services Canada after leading the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch at Health Canada for four years.

In fact, Mr. Perron worked for Health Canada for more than 15 years, during which time where he was Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services Branch (2012 to 2014); Director General, Corporate Planning (2011-12); and Director General, Non-Insured Health Benefits Directorate (2010–11).

His career path also includes roles at Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (now known as Employment and Social Development Canada), Treasury Board Secretariat, and Economic Development Canada, after spending a few years in the academia and the private sector.

He holds a Master of Public Administration from l’École nationale d’administration publique and a Bachelor of Urban Planning from the Université du Québec à Montréal.

Sony is the father of three and happily married since 1994.

Yuan Stevens

Policy Lead, Technology, Cybersecurity and Democracy, Ryerson University
Yuan (rhymes with Suzanne) Stevens works at the intersections of law, policy, and technology with a focus on privacy and cybersecurity. She holds the position of Policy Lead on Technology, Cybersecurity and Democracy at the Ryerson Leadership Lab and Cybersecure Policy Exchange at Ryerson University. Her work equips society with the ability to understand and patch up harmful vulnerabilities in sociotechnical and legal systems. Based in Montréal, she is a research fellow at McGill University’s Centre for Media, Technology & Democracy and research affiliate at Data & Society Research Institute. She received her BCL/JD from McGill University in 2017. She serves on the board of directors for Open Privacy Research Institute, Head & Hands in Montréal, and previously worked at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University.

Mélanie Robert

Executive Director, Open Government and Portals, Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat
Mélanie Robert is the Executive Director of Open Government at the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS). She leads the Government of Canada’s efforts to open data and information and to increase accountability and citizen participation, and manages Canada’s Open Government and Open Data Portal (open.canada.ca) as well as the Online Access to Information Request Service.

With over 20 years of experience in the federal public service, Mélanie has lead business analysis, regulation and enforcement work and communications and consultations for a variety of technology and innovation files.

Steve Vaillancourt

Cyber Security Instructor, Cyber Centre Learning Hub
Steve Vaillancourt is an information security veteran with over 20 years of experience in cyber security and ethical hacking. Today, he is the senior cyber security instructor for the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security, specializing in cryptography, incident handling, online privacy, and telework cyber security.
