What is Activity-Based Working?

Activity-Based Working (ABW) is a design concept that recognizes that through the course of any day, employees engage in many different activities and that they need and can choose different types of work settings to accommodate these activities. It is combined with a non-assigned seating model.

Misconceptions: WHAT IS NOT ABW? It is different from an open-plan office As the name implies, open-plan offices are just open. ABW is different in the sense that it provides a mix of both open and enclosed workspaces, available to all. It is not just an interior design concept There is a strong design component to ABW, as it usually requires new furniture and spatial changes, but the concept is primarily about organizational and cultural change.
