CGDI
Canada’s spatial data infrastructure (SDI), referred to as the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI) is the relevant base collection of standards, policies, applications, and governance that facilitate the access, use, integration, and preservation of spatial data.
The Canada Centre for Mapping and Earth Observation, within the Strategic Policy and Innovation Sector of Natural Resources Canada, brings together producers and users of geospatial information from across Canada's geomatics and Earth observation sector, including governments, industry, academia, professional associations and non-government organizations. The Centre fosters cooperation between these groups to collaboratively build the standards, data layers, systems and technologies that comprise the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI), Canada's geographic foundation.
The Centre also promotes linkages to broader geomatics community objectives and Government of Canada priorities, and undertakes outreach and education activities that promote and support the integration and use of the CGDI.
