About the NMC

The National Managers’ Community (NMC) is an interdepartmental federal network dedicated to supporting Public Service managers and ensuring their insights and experiences shape the future of public sector management. We work closely with key partners, advisory boards, and committee members to understand managers' needs and challenges, driving initiatives that reflect their perspectives across the Public Service.

Our mission is to support continuous improvement and innovation in public sector management. We provide meaningful outreach and engagement opportunities, fostering a dynamic and inclusive managers’ community.

The NMC Secretariat team unite efforts to promote the needs and interests of federal managers. The Secretariat facilitates two-way communication, acting as a knowledge broker to engage stakeholders, increase dialogue, exchange information, and share best practices.

The NMC Deputy Minister Champion

Appointed by the Clerk of the Privy Council, the NMC Deputy Minister (DM) Champion provides strategic advice and guidance to the NMC Secretariat, shaping initiatives that address the needs of both managers and executives. The DM Champion additionally chairs the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) Advisory Board, fostering collaboration and alignment across leadership levels.

The NMC Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) Advisory Board

The NMC ADM Advisory Board and the Executive Board are the Deputy Minister Champions’ Advisory Committees. They consist of executives from all departments and agencies that act as the Champion and advocates for managers’ network in their respective communities and regions.

The NMC Managers’ Advisory Board (MAB) consists of managers who lead their respective departmental/agency communities and managers’ networks. This board serves as a critical platform for sharing insights, addressing common challenges, and fostering collaboration among managers of different organization.

The NMC Regional Champions, and Steering Committee

Regional Connections bring together NMC Regional Leads, Regional Champions, and Steering Committee co-chairs and members who represent their departments and agencies across the country.

These committees meet monthly or quarterly to share insights and address the specific challenges faced by managers in their regions. By gathering valuable feedback on regional issues and departmental innovations, they ensure that the unique perspectives of managers are heard at the national level. This collaboration fosters a stronger connection between regional needs and national objectives, empowering managers to tackle their challenges while contributing to the overall advancement of Public Service goals.
