DTYPN membership is open to civilian employees or military personnel who are 35 years and younger, or who are within the first ten years of their career.

Membership of the DTYPN Steering Committee is limited to Defence Team members, civilian or military, with indeterminate positions or terms of one year or more. Students with work terms of 6 months or more may participate on the Steerign Committee through the role of Student Chair.

The committee is comprised of several different roles, including the National Chair, the National Coordinator, Military Co-Chairs, Student Co-Chairs, Civilian Co-Chairs, and Divisional Volunteers. All positions are open to anyone within the Department of National Defence who wishes to apply. Positions not filled by permanent staff will be open to students, at the discretion of the National Coordinator.
